Here I go again. I just noticed something about the NBA
again. A part of me has been addicted to the sports’ statistics. Well, not
totally though.
Well, the Oklahoma City Thunder had defeated the San Antonio
Spurs in an incredible run. Look, the Spurs had won 20 straight games before losing the
last 4 to the Thunder. It was almost a stunning run, coming out short of tying
the Houston Rockets’ 22-game winning streak few years ago.
And asking about the Thunder’s finals appearance to the
upcoming NBA Finals?
Well, that’s their 4th in franchise history, though it
will be their first time as the Oklahoma City Thunder. If you can remember they were mostly
recognized before as the Seattle Supersonics, and the last time they were in
the Big dance were during the 72-10 season of the Chicago Bulls in 1995-1996.
LeBron scored 45 points in their last outing against Boston
Celtics. Perhaps, he needed that since he got a measly 1-3 record in scoring at
least 40 points in every conference final game prior to game 6. But he has to
prove himself on another game 7 against the Celtics. If you could remember
this, he lost on a shootout with Paul Pierce despite outscoring the Truth,
45-41 at the Garden.
And speaking of the Celtics, they struggle on the road, with
the exception of its Game 5 win at the South Florida beach. But since the
franchise’s sudden rise (again) in 2008, they have lost to a game 7 only once,
though it was the worse of them all – the for-the-championship duel at Los
Angeles in 2010.
Dwyane Wade, on the other hand lost an East Final Game 7 only
once. And that came against Detroit Pistons in 2005 at... yes, their home court.
And to think this coming Saturday night was one of the few
nights in sports history where 2 sporting events are being held in a single
night. The other game? Well, of course, a boxing match between Manny Pacquiao
and Timothy Bradley.
Now why I am telling these things? Nah, just noticing it.
