Duets, or collaborations made by two artists (preferably, a
male and a female singer), is one of the best things we can hear at the present
musical scene. You got Cruisin’ (Huey Lewis and Gwyneth Paltrow), Just My
Imagination (Babyface and Gwyneth Paltrow), Nobody Wants to Be Lonely (Ricky
Martin and Christina Aguillera), My Boo (Usher and Alicia Keys), to name a few.
Honestly speaking, I rarely listen to the mainstream pop
music nowadays. Perhaps, it’s because I don’t have much time to listen to the
CHR-formatted stations. Though popular music may be some kind of bubble-gum
like impact at present, I still believe that there are few songs out there
(let’s say 1 or 2 out of 10) that can deliver good rhythm. At least on a
shallow, superficial mindset, there is.
I’ve been digging this latest single from Pink off her
latest album. It was a hell sick collaboration with Fun’s vocalist Nate Ruess.
Okay, for a few hours or so of listening to this track, I suffered another bad-ass case
of the popular disease known as “Last Song Syndrome.”
Vocally-speaking, these two artists have done a good job in
doing collaborations just like that. Maybe because their voice complemented
each other as I am listening to it for I guess… almost 40 times. Jeez!
Nothing much to say though. I wonder if the worldwide
mainstream can do another epic duet just like that.
Well, just give me a reason
to prove that, folks.
