Being still a radio fanatic for more than a decade already, I
used to grow up listening to the music of the past, especially if it sounds
like it was way back from my childhood days. And it’s been a long time when
old-soul type of people like me missed those 90s tracks, and have been craving
for them to get aired on radio again.
Besides, who will deny that the 90s music was one of the
last best things ever heard nowadays? Well, two stations used to offer a
playlist consisting of the music coming from the very last decade of the second
millennium.
Yes, sirs and madams, it’s all about 1990 until 1999 at the airwaves of the stations Mellow 947 and Magic 89.9 as they respectively have their own installment
of throwback hits via On Decade (Mellow 947) and Saturday Slam (Magic 89.9)
“Decade” airs from 6am until 6pm every Saturday, covering the programs The Morning After (6-10am), AK947 (10am-2pm), The Twist (2-5pm) and the first
hour of Easy Access (which airs from 5-8pm). They play more of the 90s popular hits there. I mean, the pop genre in general.
On the other hand, “Saturday Slam” airs starting 3 AM (right after Mambo Jumbo), with disc jockeys boarding starting 6 AM. Usually, it's Suzy, Carla, Rikki, and Josh Strike, to name the few of them. And also,
they have a wider playlist ask they cover almost all genres, including rock, the early days of hip-hop and more of the OPM hits, too. Also, Slamma Jamma's playlist (based on automation) was airing by 9 PM.
Well, there's nothing to much to argue 'coz at least you got 21 hours of coverage of last best throwback
music. And hey, it’s always been good to listen to the nicest sounds of nothing but the
1990s, huh? Kudos to these two stations, for bringing up the-last-of-the-best-old-school-music
at present. Well, we barely need that.
On Decade,“Nothing but the 90s” Saturdays, 6 A.M. – 6 P.M. at Mellow 947 Sounds good.
Saturday Slam,“The Nicest of the 90s” Saturdays, 3 A.M. –
12 midnight at Today’s Best Music Magic 89.9
**programs may shifted to change without prior notice.
