I’d like to weigh in here. So, Brock Lesnar dealt John Cena
the worst, lopsided, beatdown of his career, and perhaps the most one-sided fight
in any WWE title matches history last SumemrSlam. Yes, kids, your hero lost as well as the WWE World Heavyweight title.
Awww, how sad on your part, right?
However, Cena invoked his rematch clause. And to be frank,
it appeared ridiculous. So, it’s John Cena vs, Brock Lesnar at the Night of
Champions PPV event in Nashville, TN.
Let’s take a look back first. Actually, Lesnar wasn’t as
merciless as he did before. I know, he threw 16 German suplexes. But come on,
is that it? Is that what you do to make up for not making Cena tap on a Kimura
lock? Jeez.
On the other end, Cena did not have a gameplan. No offense,
no defense, just same, plain shit. Maybe he could have thought of winning the
game like way he did on Bray Wyatt, but no. He’s just simply owned at the end
of the night.
I remember talking to one of one of the podcast hosts for
Smark Gilas Pilipinas, one of the local wrestling fan groups, saying Cena might
have a fat chance to lose this one.
I almost agree, until seeing him improve; doing nasty moves
one after another against their opponents, like those monstrous Attitude Adjustments
(AAs), and even pulling off German suplexes.
Well, again I’m almost convinced. I understand WWE need to
have a big boost in Cena’s decision on this. However, everything rolls
according to their script, if somebody would see this in a far-flung reality
bite, it would appear that Cena’s sudden emergence might be a partly-fluke.
Well, let’s hope it’s really for real like Lesnar, who’s been always the real
deal in the WWE since his 2012 return (does the series of ‘breaking arms’
segments seems not convincing in your eyes?).
Now, is this the biggest fight of September? I doubt it. It’s
not billed as much as one anyway.
Can John Cena really beat Brock Lesnar like the way he did
at Extreme Rules? How we actually wish (though honestly, on a personal note, it appeared Cena mhight got lucky out there). Paul Heyman was actually right (in
fairness, he appeared unbias in his guesting on Steve Austin’s Unleashed
podcast) — John has to go on a darker point of his character to defeat the
Beast Incarnate. He has to unleash his other side, something he hasn’t done
before (or in case he does so, not in a very long while). He’s simply the ultimate
face of the WWE (even if on the storyline, this Reality era claims Randy Orton
as its ‘face’).
Some smarks are claiming Cena should turn heel. And maybe that’s
the only resort. But at the end of the match though, would Cena really be a
heel?
Again, I doubt it. And indeed, he didn't do so after appearing at RAW last Sept. 15, and despite showing reckless and badass-like attitude, setting himself in a massive altercation with Lesnar afterwards.

I don't know..there is something about this kind of "entertainment" that does not sit right with me. I would not let my kids watch...
ReplyDeleteNot really a fan of WWE, which I think is fake fighting right? It's too much flesh-against-flesh fighting for my liking... Makes me cringe thinking about the pain!

ReplyDeleteLet me reiterate that, a preview actually. But it's nice to notice that we are in the same page when it comes to forecasting this fight. Reality is, Lesnar has that really huge egde over Cena, ever since he came to WWE about a decade ago. And after Brock came back after participating in the UFC, man, he's the most dangerous star to date.
DeleteLesnar got power and strength to subdued him totally. You know John Cena, he's some kind of a man that needs pushing to the limits.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with Cena is that he's good OFF THE SQUARED CIRCLE. He's a role model, and ultimately, the face of this WWE era. His acts helped the promotion to book more fights, gather more audience; however, the younger ones, and the mere fact that he'd gone more entertaining made him lose the essence of what this show should be really about. Not a hater though, I admire his products; but if we're talking about "sporting-wise" I'll pick Lesnar for that matter. You're right: Cena needs a huge push. And for that to do so, he must pull something unpredictable more than just throwing German suplexes, unleashing big boot-like kicks. He has to be more vicious.

ReplyDeleteThey're aren't really violent unless they have a ruthless dude like Brock Lesnar. I used to watch them some time though I can't really have much to say about them aside from GSP as one of the people I looked upon to when it comes to MMA and its firms like UFC.
DeleteI used to watch RAW at a younger age. Now I don't find the time to get a hold of the matches. But this one seems real interesting. Awesome video snap that you attached. I forgot all my work for those 4 minutes!! Oh miss those childhood days.

ReplyDeleteSome of the matches are actually rigged, or let's say "scripted." But to be honest with you, if you're gonna say wrestling is fake, is simply a bullshit either. Sure there may be acts as similar to a basketball lingo as "flop," but that doesn't mean they don't really get hurt with the way they are portraying. At the end, it may be entertainment, but at the same time, still a sport.

ReplyDeleteI cannot even be in a room where they are showing this stuff. I can't stand the violence. I know wrestling is fake fighting but sometimes I suspect they cross the line...
