The Pre-take: WrestleMania 31 (Part 1)

Since it’s gonna be another heck-of-an-event this coming Sunday evening in Silicon Valley (Monday morning Manila time), expect the millions (and millions!) of wrestling fans around the globe to witness the World Wrestling Entertainment’s (WWE) 31st annual spectacle, popularly known as WrestleMania!

And what’s a WrestleMania for the SlickMaster – along with his followers (whom, by the way, are just countable by your fingertips!) without a “pre-take,” right?

Talk about predictions, just like the way we have last year.
Fatal-4-Way for the Tag Team Titles

Let’s start this thing with a Fatal-Four-Way clash for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Can the team of Cesaro-Tyson Kidd emerged victorious over three other duos in the names of The Usos, Los Matadores, and The New Day?

If Big E and Kofi Kingston can handle it, then definitely that would be a “sign” of a “new day” for the tag team division. I had a doubt that Los Matadores could nail that one; however, that consider an upset if they does, with El Torrito being their prized distractor.

But Cesaro and Kidd successfully defending the title? Fat chance, and it’s a guaranteed WrestleMania moment for the two, though Cesaro already owned one by throwing The Big Show out of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal last year (and hey, that wowed the crowd right there, actually).

Still, I’ll handpicked the Usos for earning the tag team golds once again. I am just disappointed that this match will take place on the pre-show which is around mid-Sunday afternoon at the Levi’s Stadium.

Potential Winner: The Usos

Battle Royal
There are so many notable participants for the 30-man battle royal in tribute to that gigantic-and-legendary Frenchman in the 80s and early 90s. However, I can never name them one-by-one like the way Lilian Garcia announced the only two of those countless competitors in the ring (and that, actually was a botch considering how on earth would these dudes earn a WrestleMania moment other than having the grandest entrance on that so-called “Superbowl of Sports Entertainment,” right?).

With the notable feud between The Miz and Damien Mizdow in the ring, I can sense the latter will take home the larger-than-life-sized trophy. Perhaps, turning his character into that wack-yet-entertaining Damien Sandow in the process. In case that occurs, that will be the first double-cross of WrestleMania 31 (and maybe, a candidate on the Slammy Awards for such case).

Other potential winners? Hmmm, I can only think of Curtis Axel since he has a story to fight for since Royal Rumble. Say, Axelmania can be a fitting thing for this match since it was Hulk Hogan who fronted this in the first place.

PW: Damien Mizdow
Revenge

Revenge. The only word that best describes Orton’s current conquest. Since his frustrations over the Authority, Randy Orton was always on the roll. Though it’s quite obvious, he’s turning face again no matter how slow the process may it took long.

And after Fast Lane, he’s up for a mission: demolishing Seth Rollins, the present “golden boy” of McMahon faction. You know what? They should have put the Money in the Bank briefcase as its stipulation. I think that will run the plot better.

But take that thing out of equation: I can sense another Phoenix Splash en route to Rollins’ victory. However, I can also foresee a potential RKO in the air – or even ‘outta nowhere’ fashion.

And in case that happens, this is Orton’s game.

PW: Randy Orton

There will be a WrestleMania viewing party in Skinny Mike’s at Bonifacio Golobal City. Event starts at 6:30 AM and the entrance is free. His event was made possible by The Smark Gilas-Pilipinas (SGP) podcast, along with the Philippine Wrestling Revolution (PWR), and the event’s official venue partner Skinny Mike’s. Check out their event page on Facebook for more info.

And in case you don’t have time to take a leave on Monday morning, FOX Philippines will air WrestleMania 31 on Monday evening, right after the season 5 finale of The Walking Dead at 10:20 PM. Replays will be on Tuesday noon (March 31 2015, 12:25 PM) , and this coming weekend (April 4 2015, Saturday, 2:05 PM; and April 5 2015, Sunday, 3:45 PM).

Other than that, you can check out the live-blogging sections on Rappler, other wrestling portals, live-streaming sites, and even on Twitter (Yes, I'll be my money on the fact that #WrestleMania will trend worldwide once again–and no way they will never be!).

**WrestleMania 31 on FOX airing does not include the 2-hour special pre-show; and times displayed on their replaying schedule may change without prior notice.
