The Scene Around: KATHA Tula X Sayaw

5/17/2015 8:33:02 PM

When literature (spoken word poetry) and dance converged in such a freeway-manner: That is what KATHA: Tula X Sayaw was all about when Para sa Sining Productions slated their event last Saturday (15 May 2015) at the A Space Manila venue in Makati City.

Poets, dancers, and enthusiast were indeed treated as 12 performers divided in three sets (Take Risks, Love Life, Be Free) delivered some of the mind-blowing and emotionally-driven words accompanied by their respective interpretative dances.

Some of dancers were from the Skittlez Crew; while the poets and spoken word interpreters were from LOGOS and DLSU Harlequin Guild.

For over two hours, the content was worth its 200-peso ticket. I mean, all of the 12 sets were totally awesome; though Oyayi was the first one which struck me the most, then the comical pieces of Franz Pantaleon (Morning Dew and Knock Knock Jokes), The Moon and its Faces, Ako’y Nakauwi Na, and Kapag Umaapaw Na did the same thing as well.

They also have their ‘open mic’ session after the program.

The advent of spoken word poetry was clearly evident. Not bad to raise awareness and potential interest for a first-time goer like me.
This gathering, though, became of Para sa Sining Productions' huge turnout when it comes to reach—with their venue partner helping them in spreading the word as well as gist.ph. And with the good result of the latest KATHA, event head Cess Corrado said something big will come on Para Sa Sining Productions in three months time, or their next event.

Before I leave, shout out to Miss Kerstin Pinto for inviting me to this gathering. I would definitely love to come next time!
