Major Adjustment

Game Four was the midway part of a best-of-seven playoff series; and it’s more even vital when it comes to a championship series like the National Basketball Association.

And to be frank, it was a huge turnaround for this year’s finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors.

I’ll say the Warriors had done a very good job in salvaging themselves to level the series. And moreover, to send a message that they are indeed this season’s top dog (with 67 wins) by demolishing the Cavs in their home floor alone.

After a 7-0 start by the Cavaliers, the Warriors roared back and never look back to take a 21-point victory, 103-82.

The small ball worked perfectly for Coach Steve Kerr, with Andre Iguodala contributing a game-high 22 points along with Stephen Curry. 

On the other end, the Cavaliers could only rely to LeBron James and Matthew Dellavedova. And I think Iguadola had do ne a great job for defending LeBron James in 63% percent of the latter’s time.

The King has been checked. And it was a checkmate.

The upside though is that Timofey Mozgov had a career high 28 points and 10 rebounds – six from the offensive end. But other than that, the Cavs never found a rhythm. Not even LeBron who just got a scoring streak snapped by being held to only 20 markers. He, though, had eight assists and 12 rebounds.

And a third quarter rally wasn’t even enough to weather the stormy domination by Golden State. After trailing by three, the Dubnation roared into their usual finisher. Come to think that Curry and his gang has been producing more astonishing numbers during the fourth canto of all the four games of this finale so far—with most of them coming as ‘rallies’. 

Now, the question: Will we be seeing another scoring barrage come Game 5? 

That remains to be seen.

I think the Cavs have to do is for Coach David Blatt to use the deep, veteran-comprised bench. What’s the purpose of Shawn Marion, Kendrick Perkins, James Jones and even Mike Miller if all of them weren’t even been stepping on the floor for adequate time. 

What’s the justification: just because they can’t play the “catch up game” with the “young ones?” Well, maybe.

But being there would dictate another game fate. After all, they controlled the tempo in Games 1 to 3. And that can actually help. Seriously.

As for the Warriors, they should make any sort of adjustments. They can’t stay on the path where they defeat the Cavaliers in Game 4. For sure, the Cavs already checked them.

And perhaps, they should not talk much to media what are their plans.
