Sudden Swerve

Nobody saw it coming. Not even a lot of smarks. And if there are few, maybe we're talking about those legit and religious wrestling observers here.

As far as I remember, some Facebook post tipped that The Undertaker was seen arriving at backstage for WWE's pay-per-view event Battleground. Talks also said he will be around the WWE convoy until Tuesday.

Perhaps that gave a signal that the Phenom will make a cameo to the current sports entertainment scene once again; like the first time since WrestleMania 31—or March 29, 2015 at the Silicon Valley. Since defeating Bray Wyatt, speculations said he was supposed to appear early next year for his WM battle with Sting.

And just when Brock Lesnar is about to complete his revenge over Seth Rollins, a sudden swerve took place. Yes, after 15 months, the story of vengeance had its first page. Two gongs, a darkened arena, and sudden appearance: that is the Undertaker for you, guys. And he's after the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar, the “one” in his 22-1 record at WrestleMania.

In case you didn't know, Lesnar snapped the Undertaker's unbeatable—and untouchable—run at Shows of Shows on April 6, 2014; sending shockwaves all over the wrestling fans—old or new. Thus, mortalizing what was supposed to be an immortalized myth in the world of professional wrestling—or in Vince McMahon's term, “sports entertainment.”

He's back. Now what could implicate the current storyline of WWE? A potential swerve. Sure, we may say Taker showed heel tactics when he kicked Lesnar to the crotch before nailing a chokeslam and two tombstone piledrivers. But Lesnar was supposed to be a heel, but everything had a turnaround when Seth Rollins entered the scene and strole the title away from him—and even Lesnar's WrestleMania opponent Roman Reigns. I think the process will be taking place once the RAW after Battleground aired Monday evening.

Why is that? Because Undertaker should earn sympathy (and is still earning it despite hitting a cheap shot) after two things: losing to Brock at WM30, and after what the latter did to Kane on RAW before Battleground (something which actually gave Brock series of raves).

Yes, it's all in the matter of realignment.

But what will happen? Perhaps a series of pandemoniums will be evident as SummerSlam approaches; and call me sadistic for this, but admit it folks: in a wrestling show like RAW, violence is the most present. Chronologically-wise, it was the primary; the first; and nowhere placed below but the number one spot. (In fact, as of this writing, the massive brawl between Brock and Undertaker took place both on the squared circle and backstage.)

All I can foresee though is that a sudden appearance by Undertaker's next WrestleMania opponent Sting. And perhaps it will happen at SummerSlam, when the Authority granted everyone's wish for a Lesnar-Taker main event at the summer's biggest wrestling stage.
