Upcoming: SiKuna

7/26/2015 7:04:47 PM

Here’s something to kickstart August as the Philippines’ National Language Month, a collaboration of different art forms that will surely give you a refreshing—and reawakening taste to the culture of our country, and this is called The SiKuna Festival.

The SiKuna Festival is an event organized by Para sa Sining, an organization which aims to exhibit the Philippines’ enriching works in arts and culture and share it with other Filipinos here and around the world.

The festivity will feature a day-long exhibits and collaborative performances by several artists under several forms of architecture, dance, film, literature, music, theater, and visual arts. Also, art enthusiasts can be artists as interactive activities will take place during the event.

It also aims to raise funds for the upcoming projects of Para sa Sining, which handles Katha and Hiraya. Katha is the PSS’ creative arm which organizes collaborative art programs, such as the following: Katha Musika X Pelikula (25 October 2014), Katha Musika X Sining-Biswal (18 December 2014), Katha Teatro X Sayaw (20 February 2015), and Katha Tula X Sayaw (16 May 2015).

Hiraya, on the other hand, is responsible for helding cultural exchange and arts education programs. Also, they collaborate with various groups and agencies under the same advocacy such as Pasinaya, a multi-arts festival produced by the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP); and recently, they took part of the Brigada Eskwela program by the Department of Education (DepEd) held at Mt. Pulag, Benguet.

The SiKuna Festival will be held starting 1:30 PM onwards at the Century City Mall Events Center in Kalayaan Avenue, Poblacion, Makati City. Tickets are available at the venue for only 300 pesos.
