We all know what's about to go down late this month: Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton in WWE's second biggest party called SummerSlam. The announcement took place even before Lesnar hit the weighing scale for his one-time show-off at the Ultimate Fighting Championship against Mark hunt last July.
And after winning (eventually) the match, controversy struck the former wrestling heavyweight champion. The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has reported Lesnar failing an out-of-competition drugs test; thus, saying he was diagnosed positive for a banned substance and resulting to a potential suspension from either UFC, WWE or both.
But it came to shock on the majority that the Canadian athlete, standing 1.88m and weighing 130kg, was not been handed such penalty by Vince McMahon's promotion. Ironically, WWE has their own wellness policy too; and they have been very strict in handing sanctions to its violators – with one of the recent marked names include the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns.
Why does it say so? Because Lesnar is a part-timer. That being said makes a huge question mark regarding the credibility of their health standards to their athletes. No wonder why his SummerSlam opponent drew fire by exclaiming “No enhancement needed.” Seriously, just because he is performing sparingly per year does mean he is exempted from taking the regulatory measures this company has been implementing? That sucks big time.
And I think even if the E argue that they are protecting their full-time athletes and not the integrity of the sport, that might sound off.
Well, they could even mete him with a 30-day suspension (at least) for being a first-time violator, but that will make him appear for his blockbuster fight at Brooklyn. But, no; that didn't happen.
Now I'm not surprised why Connor McGregor is dissing them. Too much for being a 'show-business.' Well, while the WWE is not suspending Lesnar, the UFC may have its street cred put in jeopardy if they will not act on it. Good thing the wrestler has to deal with USADA ang Nevada State Athletic Commission regarding the matter. And first step on the court will be on the 23rd of August.
