The Rundown Slam: NXT TakeOver Brooklyn II

As SummerSlam weekend approaches by, so was the WrestleMania-like of the NXT, and it was staged at Brooklyn; with all the strong and glorious fashions the WWE has ever made for its prospects.

Kicking off the evening was the match between No Way Jose and Austin Aries. And even if the fiesta was spoiled, the a-okay contest had a revved-up shenanigan as Hideo Itami shocked the winner into sleep. And I mean GTS right there.

Billie Kay fought the debuting Ember Moon; and you have to love how intimidating her red eyes as she goes for the obvious win. All that despite some botched moves along the way (though hilarious).

Kinda funny: some of the stars hyped in the billing were heels. And frankly they were even more cheered than the supposed-to-be faces. One of them was the “Glorious” entrance of Bobby Roode, who made his way from up heavens with a Flair. Shades of Shawn Michaels going down from up top during his WrestleMania match with the Undertaker. That saves up for a bit-above the average match with Andrade Cien Almas.

The Tag Team match between The Revival and DIY was so dope it could've been part of the list of match of the year candidates for 2016. The action was done into perfection; heck, even stunning the entire list of matches all the WWE programs had made during that SummerSlam weekend. Despite the outstanding showing, I could sense this rivalry will never end. Who knows? The cruiserweights might just stun the badass brawlers come the next Take Over event.

It's unfair for me to say the second NXT Championship match between Asuka vs. Bayley fared way better than their first (or vice versa) since I haven't seen NXT Take Over Dallas either. So I'll just leave it here. Most heels had been dominating the evening so far. And Bayley's ending in NXT signaled a new chapter – that is relegating up to the main roster a few days later. This further solidified Asuka's both championship run and the unbeaten streak.

Another awesome match in the books was the main event itself: Samoa Joe vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the NXT championship. Though not as high as the earlier highly-notable contests, but this displayed the ascension of the Strong Style to the throne of NXT; crumbling the gigantic world of Samoa Joe in the process.

That being said, Japanese invasion in the Americanized pro-wrestling world was carved into the memories of the NXT universe anew. And as far as the new era of the WWE is concerned, it was just one of the steps with Finn Balor and AJ Styles eventually winning the top titles for RAW and SmackDown live later on.

Hey, to sum it up, NXT Take Over has stole the show once again, beating the biggest WWE PPVs for over a year. Forget the showmanship of pyrotechnics, lighting and even dead air commentaries for Corey Graves and Tom Philipps; the matches carried the show very well.

Verdict: 9
