The Scene Around: Monster Indie Ground 2

10/11/2016 02:59:34 AM

Monster RX 93.1 is giving the country's music scene a much even stronger exposure courtesy of Indie Ground, a music program that gives several bands from the indies a chance to be heard in the metro-wide radio.

And that being said, Monster Indie Ground staged three bar tours during their anniversary month (August 2016). Yours truly managed to storm by Black Kings Bar at West Triangle in Quezon City for the second leg of the event.

Already made to the venue past 10PM, I quite missed a bunch of musicians that include BP Valenzela; but the night's still considered early as more bands were still scheduled to play then – including my new favorites Runway Hits.

Alvin, Cara, and Schneider hosted the Indie Ground's Bar Tour #2. And She's Only Sixteen was about to play right there.

Oh, Flamingo!, Runway Hits, and Jensen and The Flips were also part of the lineup; with the latter going in a very rare acoustic setup to end the night in a bit chilling manner. I must say Runway Hits were one of the reasons why this night was packed; maybe because this band was one of the notable ones both in the radio and in social media. (That's aside from Rob and The Hitmen.)

There were also new ones for me to dig there: Filter Keen and Moonlit Storytellers. I'm just not sure if these two amassed massive following – as similar to the young RH (or even higher). But that give me reasons to stay up during their set and just listen.

Plus on a personal level, this is actually the time I encountered Patricia, Agnes, Michelle, Gab and Kit. It's been like four months since the last time I heard in a gig (Banna Harbera's Persistence EP, to be exact), and if not for a commitment during an event at The Collective, I could've stay up and approach them up-close.

But anyway, it already happened.
