The Scene Around: Docdef 1??

Seems since In D' Flow, Docdef Productions has seemingly lost count of their number of gigs slated, eh? No wonder they have put up the 1?? a  la slot machine. But without pun intended, it was a last ditch decision on my end to swing by Route 196 after storming by Black Kings Bar for the Monster Indie Ground tour.

When I arrived at the venue by around 1:30 AM, there were three remaining acts to perform them; and the first of those remaining trio were Gabe Piolo, on the verge of launching the music video for Look Along The Way.

Next in the lsit was one of my current favorites, the sunny-vibrant indiepop band called We Are Imaginary – just minus their guitarist Khalid who had an emergency matter to deal with; thus, giving Carlo Lava (Lions and Acrobats, Gabe Piolo, etc.) the opportunity to jam with Ahmad, Eric and Vhall. Funny how their lead recognized me for singing with them during their set. (Precisely because I got hooked up with their album Death By Romanticism the first time I personally hear them.)

Capping up the evening were the usual boys we know as UBE. And I think that was the first time I hear them again in a very long time. Heck, they even had a new offering and it was called Pale (formerly, Sayang). Just perfect for a windup from a major mishap with a beer at hand.

I highly doubt Docdef will still managed to count their achieved gigs. They were over a hundred for the past 3 ½ years. While it might show how we guys have been doing – perhaps a bit of slowing down from that rocking 2015 that saw us establishing two big shows: Tagayay Art Beat and In D' Flow.

Despite staying only for the last two hours, it was much satisfying; considering seeing Ube again after a very long time, and meeting We Are Imaginary's Ahmad Tanji up close and personal. Hey, I dig their Powerpuff Girl-inspired sticker here!
