So I saw this movie last week and boy, this appeared to be different from the franchise itself. Well, indeed it is because Rogue One was aimed and delivered to be the first stand-alone movie from the Star Wars saga, with characters different from what has been familiar to me before. Apart from Princess Leila and Darth Vader, who else have at least ring a bell for me there?
Jyn Erso was the lady on a mission and that involves his father and the superweapon Death Star. And furthermore, carrying the fight of the rebellion that bridges the time of Episode III (Revenge of the Sith) and Episode IV (A New Hope – and best described as Star Wars first movie installment).
So it looked a part of the franchise without aiming itself as one. It was different; a fresh-take, as some fans might say. I have to commend how the plots and subplots were made into this one; not a typical galactic setting film but had that kind of feel. And heck, action scenes were at their dopest. It totally blew my mind when the scenes leading to conclusion took place – and it wasn't typical as what you think.
It's not fair for me to say this is the best Star Wars movie yet. But certainly with the raves from the critics, the blockbuster reports, and in case I managed to catch up with other installments of the saga soon, I could probably utter them all.
The Verdict: 8.6
