The Rundown Slam: WWE Roadblock End Of The Line

12/30/2016 02:53:10 PM

The World Wrestling Entertainment got their specials boosted up as they end the year with a RAW-exclusive pay per view (PPV) gig called Roadblock: End Of The Line. And frankly, it wasn't a bad show to culminate WWE's run this 2016.

Sheamus and Cesaro won the RAW tag team championships was probably one of the entertaining starts ever. The road block was planted to The New Day's championship reign of 483 days. And that entrance was nothing short of being the dopest – considering both the Celtic Warrior and the Swiss Superman written at odds with each other. Instant spotfest, I must say, from the roaring start to the wicked spear, cheap shots, false finishes, and the sarcifical lam-ish chapter plus even the aftermatch shenanigans.

Say, they remind me of both Hell No and the tandem of Miz and Mizdow.

Verdict: 9

Sami Zayn wasn't really able to defeat Braun Strowman in the fashion we all know. It was more of surivival – even more dramatic than Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H in WrestleMania 29 wherein the latter's career is on the line.

It was good, but not really as convincing as it goes. Or maybe because I was really expecting for the underdog to pin the monster. Just too bad.

Verdict: 7

Seth Rollins defeated Chris Jericho. But what else was really new here? It looked like just a super-duper-extended version of their matches in RAW; it just so happened that this time around, Y2J directly rejected Kevin Owens' offer of help. In other words, almost-dragging.

That probably ends it all for this feud as Rollins will move on clash with Hunter anytime soon. But fuck those “ten” count chants.

Verdict: 8

The Cruiserweight Championship match proved how lose TJ Perkins on one side. His character must realized there is no friends under this triple threat match. Well it wasn't really that obvious until you analyze further. His character needs a bit of tweaking.

It's quite good to see Swann retain his title – just the same way as how Micheal Cole, Corey Graves, and Austin Aries had tremendous chemistry as that with Mauro Ranallo donning the Cole or middleman.

Verdict: 8

The iron man match for the women's championship may look dragging because Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair mangled each other again for the sixth time in the past five months; and probably for the 139726841st time since their NXT days.

They went over the limit, with Charlotte putting the clamps on Sasha the violent and bloody way possible. Still, this contest was brutally entertaining like no other.

But it's saddening another streak didn't meet its end. Instead it was Sasha Bank's reign again.

Verdict: 9

Despite the usual loud boos, Roman Reigns still put up a solid match versus Kevin Owens. Well, solid yet very usual for these two – with a botchamania moment from those two frog splashes from the announce table.

Quite funny how the finish trolled a lot of us. Just when we thought Chris Jericho has put the emphasized period in their friendship, it was a way to hand KO the victory via disqualification. Heck, the smart way to proved them all. Another way of 'assist' just in time for holidays.

But the post-match shenanigans brought more holiday cheers. Perfectly choreographed, I must say. Shades of SHIELD, we must say. Ha ha ha! I just thought it would've been awesome if the RAW commentary team had mics during the fading minutes of the program.

Verdict: 9

Say, at least RAW put up a fight in Roadblock this time; much better than they did on Hell in a Cell. The only thing that appalled me though is the inclusion of 205 Live wherein it should've been as primarily tagged as RAW-exclusive in the first place. Well, maybe because the crusierweight division is still under WWE's flagship program and wasn't on totally on a stand-alone basis yet.

Talk about ending this awful year with a bang!

The Verdict: 8.5
