The very first ÄRT MÖD FAIR took place at the Megatrade Hall 2 of SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City just in time for the Independence Day-related long weekend.
For three days, more than 100 artists – practicing individuals and collectives, young and old – were gathered to showcase their art works (mostly comprised of illustrations, paintings, photographs, and sculptures).
Also, present in the building were several brands such as Art in Island, Art Nebula, and Faber Castell, which provided artsy-fun workshops, in stage and in their respective shops such as calligraphy, acrylic painting, stamp carving, latte art, floral, and a whole lot more.
And frankly, the portrait painting activity at the Art Nebula stall is something I definitely enjoyed a lot (though frankly, I am a noob. Don't kill me, please!).
And a community painting activity capped everything on a Sunday afternoon, making everyone get involved in doing the art. All that happened while having a series of talks on stage that involves public art, jeepney, art collection, to name a few.
Asked upon how the fair went on, several artists says ÄRT MÖD FAIR 2017 had given them the leeway they need on publicizing their works and even generating sales. The beneficiary of this gig are the artists themselves, as the organizing company made sure they were given space and shoulder the expenses for the exposure to a much wider audience. Visitors accessed the fair at the very fairly price of 100 pesos.
While there are some flaws regarding the vouchers (something they later resolved), ÄRT MÖD FAIR 2017 somehow lived to their promises very fairly. And probably they will have more artists joining the next time around. They are also encouraging the young ones to join them as well.
