Flick Review: Despicable Me 3

09/03/2017 04:53:23 PM

Despicable Me 3 appears to be a forced – or coerced – extension of what should've been an animated show featuring Steve Carell's portrayal of an animated round frontal character and a bunch of show-stealers known as the minions.

But no. While DM2 showcased the 'turning back' of the minions more than Gru's mission as part of the Anti-Villain League and his shifting to be romantic to his partner Lucy, DM3 was more about his character on being a 'kid' amidst his supposedly-family man status. And it brings up more challenge when the minions were exposed a bit lesser this time around after turning heel on the main man.

Needless to say, Despicable Me 3 has toppled the franchise and proved my initial prejudgments wrong.

The Verdict: 8.7
