March of The Penguins 40 featured the launching of Stereodeal's new music video called “New Jersey,” the band's latest single. And it was an emotional night as their original drummer departed for a concentrating her life in the province.
And it was nearly a year since the last time I went to Doc Randy Maghari's monthly gig at Route 196 at Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City. As always, with free entrance comes an awesome chill-vibe music from several musicians like Covert, the Purplechickens, and Mayo Baluyut (whom I finally made personal interactions with after first seeing him at saGuijo seven months ago).
Plus seeing Adrian Arcega's huge project came to life opened my eyes to the reality behind the underground scene in from 90s and beyond. I'd love to pay my money to see this program again.
But seeing COVERT with sort of a renovated lineup has made their sound more cooler than expected. Imagine a balladeer by lyrics embodying a mixed of alternative and folk sounds and presto, this is the result. The quintet whom may not be numerically popular, but it doesn't really matter at all. I'm now a fan.
And that goes the same with Stereodeal.
