Upcoming: Joey Ayala - Mandiriwa

08/24/2017 10:26:48 PM

The last two decades of the 20th century saw the name Joey Ayala and his band called Ang Bagong Lumad popped out of the list of then then-emerging and popular names in the local music scene. But also, it can't be denied that while he excelled best doing the folk poetry in musical motion, other personalities from the rock, pop, and even hiphop genres emerged and have the most shades under the limelight of OPM.

It was in 1992 when Ayala stepped on the floors of Music Museum, home to one of the famous stages in the Metro Manila concert scene. The now-61 year old musician performed tracks and launched his three debut records "Panganay Ng Umaga," "Magkabilaan," and "Mga Awit ng Tanod-lupa."

But after a long 25-year wait, Ayala is set to perform once again in his major concert at the site that is part of the heart of Greenhills Shopping Center, San Juan. Joining him on stage will be Bayang Barrios, Dong Abay, Bullet Dumas, Gloc-9, Juan Miguel Severo, and Ang Bagong Lumad.

The concert is promised to be a executed a la workshop one as interaction between the performer and the audience in such an workshop-like manner will be taking place.

Dubbed as “Mandiriwa,” the major concert has been the fifth of the same number of shows produced by two collaborative event firms Vandals Entertainment and Gabi Na Naman Productions, both of which emerged from being the respectively recognized names as online and bar-scaled gigs, with one common objective of depicting the heavyweight up-and-comers in the country's music industry.

The partnership also brought a series of shows featuring Johnoy Danao, Ebe Dancel, Bullet Dumas, Aia de Leon, Barbie Almalbis, and Kitchie Nadal). The primers and repeats achieved cumulative success through sold-out ticket sales, full-house shows, and even taking over the Philippine trends at its duration.

While their nostalgia took a time machine ride to the modern era, Mandiriwa, however, is poised as a similar but an ever huge challenge for Ian Urrutia, Milley Habito, and their crews to follow suit on whatever Dama and Secrets #AiaBarbieKitchie have brought onto them for years.

The term was Ayala's innovative derivation of a “wisdom-maker.” That said, expect various forms of art in music and word forms depicting the truth and cultural form to take over the Music Museum during that fateful night.

Joey Ayala's Mandiriwa will be staged on Saturday, September 16, 2017, 7:00 PM at the Music Museum in Greenhills, San Juan City. Tickets are available via the website. Other details can be seen through their Facebook events page
