MilesExperience has probably taken a
huige swerve nearly two years since the release of their debut Again
& Against, an album that launched their career in the
stratosphere.
With MCA Music Philippines backing them
since 2016, the quintet of Miles Bondoc, Guido Hizon, Justin Teano,
Ian Diaz, and Tim Odulio, embarked on their momentum; writing songs
while hitting release from A-and-A titled Anggulo.
Sunshine has remarkably its pilot
tester en route to launching a new record, the 10-track Soberhaul,
with cover art from their long-time friend Myk Galido a.k.a. Cinos.
When Msex unveiled the piece of its album artwork on social media, I
already know who's the brain behind its brushes.
And truth be told: Setting its fair
share of mishaps and silences for two months aside, MilesExperience
transformed itself from being another bunch of dudes making swabe
music (something that has become a hit for the past 3-4 years) into
their own identified kind of jazz, blues, and alternative. It was a
fusion that started from Down, and it transcended to their
upbeat-dominated album. There's obvious a number of differences shown
upon doing a comparison test between the two discs.
Soberhaul was a merrier live show (and
no sexual pun intended here) a total turnaround from Again & Against, with more emotionally-positive lyrics and relatively-same
louder bang on instrumentals. Needless to say this album has become a
new wind instead of being just a second.
The Verdict: 8.9
Must-hear: Feels-Like A Wave, All The
Love, Takipsilim, Pagkakataon
