Tala Gil, more known as TALA, has formally launched her self-titled debut EP at the Unit 27 Apartment Bar + Cafe in Eastwood Citywalk, Libis, Quezon City. The launching gig also paved way to launch the young singer-songwriter's music video for one of her tracks called 'bruised.'
The 18-year old Gil may appear to be a newcomer in the scene, with her dropping the last name to make her mark today. But she is no stranger and music has been running through her blood veins as her father Dan is part of the band Chillitees while her cousin Nikki has been one of the biggest names in OPM's recent memory.
And upon writing her songs, the young Gil draws inspiration from the likes of Yuna, Tom Misch, June Mariezzy, Corrine Bailey Rae, Frank Ocean, and Norah Jones, and tackles a series of theme surrounding the youthful emotions of love, heartaches, and female empowerment.
TALA's debut EP comprises of five tracks, including the first-released single 'nothing personal' which attained an array of success such as peaking at the 8th spot on the Spotify Philippines Viral 50 Chart and a consistent chart-topper on Monster RX 93.1's The Countdown Top 20 for three months.
Her two other singles 'bruised' and 'boy' managed to make waves on the international music charts, with the former reaching the Viral 50 Chart of Spotify Malaysia and the latter once ranked 26th at the iTunes Top 200 Tracks in Panama.
With 'walk away' and 'amber' completing the record, TALA's debut EP has already entered various iTunes charts, including Taiwan, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
Launched on 23 March 2018, TALA's self-titled debut EP, is available on iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon, and Spotify. Follow the artist on her Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
