Upcoming: Orange & Lemons x The Bloomfields

05/15/18 09:31:32 PM

While the month of May has been filled with the likes of PULP Summer Slam, Summer Noise, Wagayway, and Tagaytay Art Beat, there is one bar-scaled gig that's poised to be as bigger as anyone else: two icons of the past decade teaming up together for one night only.

The last quarter of year 2017 has been a resounding one despite some controversies when alternative rock band Orange & Lemons reunited in a much convincing fashion. From being a surprising act in The Smiths night, the comeback gig itself at The '70s Bistro, headlining two bigwigs (Quids Night Out and The Rest is Noise) in one night, to jamming with Ely during that Offshore Music gig, the triumvirate of brothers Ace and JM del Mundo, and Clementine Castro has been on a roll with two new singles and an album produced in over nine months.

On the other hand, The Bloomfields doesn't sound afar from many, too. They once rocked the OPM world during the late-2000s with original hit “Wala Nang Iba” and a ton of originals and covers. The quartet of Rocky Collado, Louie Poco, Dino Pascual, and Lakan Hila has oftentimes been recognized for making sounds that has drawn inspiration mostly from The Beatles. And now they signed under a new management, The Bloomfields has taken a renewed path – it is indeed a “high time” to put up their originals once again. And one of the solid proofs of doing so is putting their 2011 album Hit The Ground Running on digital platforms. Also, they are joining the current crop of bands playing in some indie-prod gigs such as Revolver Productions in saGuijo.

This coming Thursday, 17 May 2018, expect these two colossal figures to take over Makati's premier live music house as Orange & Lemons and The Bloomfields headline saGuijo for one night only. They might even partake with one another during the stretch. And don't just expect a trip back to memory lane as both bands are also poised to unleash some of their new songs, too! Paranoid City and Blind Stereo Moon will be their front acts during the stretch. Show starts at 8:30 PM, and 300 pesos gets you in with one free drink!
