PlayBack: Bita and The Botflies – Tagu-Taguan

There's a reason why this blues quintet had made it big time–well, as early as 2016. This song is has the answer to the 'whys.'

Tagu-taguan isn't just a song about your favorite childhood game no matter how the title sounded like one. Give credit to Sofy Aldeguer and her band for being such a storyteller of sort when the lyrics has been pounding on betrayals, its backstory, and eventful tales.

Her vocal prowess – although not totally-perfect – has been stirring the emotions in accordance to its instrumentals. She howled enough when it needed the most. And while she sings it, the superb guitar works (lead, rhythm, and bass) has keeping the pace in such a chill way.

Who says hugot songs can only ring a bell today? How about taking such a song that has the beautiful groove of blues along with the lyrical work that is full of emotionally-grotesque when done perfectly?

The Verdict: 8.6

Bita and The Botflies is a band from Manila, Philippines that makes music aiming to disturb the peace in such a grooving, jazzy-blues way.
