There's a reason why NJPW has been THE wrestling show as of late. Forget WWE for a moment. Even without the sudden jumping-ship by Chris Jericho, this wrestling promotion from the East has been producing stellar shows and a bunch of exceptional talents that we are now seeing in Vince McMahons company in the West (Thanks, Hunter and NXT!).
And one of its June shows titled Dominion has putted Osaka anew in the map of professional wrestling, especially when Chris Jericho challenged Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. Certainly, the stocks gone raised above the skyscapers and has fully-taken advantage of how lackluster the WWE product has been – plus the budding US event from Ring of Honor named ALL IN (and its historic sold out ticket sales, goddamn!).
For a bit less than five hours, NJPW Dominion has left everyone in awe with spectacular matches, highlighted by a historic victory by Y2J to become a 10-time Intercontinental Champion in two promotions [Obviously, nine in WWE, and 1 in NJPW]. I just find the post-match shenanigans a bit over-ballistic for him.
Another impressive from this is the match involving the team of EVIL and SANADA versus The Young Bucks for the Tag Team Championship. There's indeed a reason why this duo are the hot commodity of tag team wrestling right now.
But the second main event between Okada and Omega for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship proved how incredible stamina the latter has. Hell, both men displayed such incredible action that it took nearly 30 minutes just to score a pinfall victory for Okada. Omega, on the other hand, went come from behind and that displayed how tremendous his stamina is as a performer. And the finish has triggered an intriguing ride with Cody, something that a lot saw during the next NJPW outings.
