Philippine Wrestling Revolution's next biggest show Renaissance is happening this Sunday, 26 August 2018, at the Power Mac Center Spotlight in Circuit Makati. And the show promises to be another packed one in the battlefield with two championship matches taking over the main event spots, plus a variety of bouts taking over the afternoon.
First main event features the PWR Championship match between Ralph Imabayashi and Main Maxx.
After a number of successful title defenses – including last two via submission – the longest-reigning PWR Champion is set to defend the belt against his biggest, most-challenging opponent to date.
Main Maxx, once known as the longest-reigning PHX Champion, emerged as the top contender for the prize and distinction to be called Kampeon Ng Pilipinas after two grueling battles against the Apocalypse and Jake De Leon on PWR's previous outing. Aside from this, he has never been defeated by Imabayashi before suffering a career-threatening ACL tear injury in March 2017.
It was a long wait to get back to the top for the Silent Rage, and with the help of Mr. Sy, Main Maxx has alleviated his status anew as one of the elite competitors in the PWR Ring since Path Of Gold. The question: can the former Philippine Excellence Champion prevail once again and take the PWR's most-coveted prize? And moreover: who's corner will be proven a factor in the decision of this contest?
Meanwhile, for the first time in two years, Ken Warren and Jake De Leon will go head-to-head in singles competition for the PHX title.
Warren and De Leon are historically known to be part of the Philippine Wrestling Revolution’s originals. In fact, these are the very first two wrestlers to squared off against each other in the company's first-ever wrestling match. They were also the first titleholders in PWR (Warren was the first-ever PHX Champion, while De Leon was the first award-winner of the PWR Championship), and were once the winners for the Path of Gold tournament.
Ironically, Warren and De Leon were the last two men standing in last year's POG match, which the Social Media Sinister won. However, The Senyorito remains undefeated in in singles competition against Warren, which gives the former the upperhand.
Completing PWR's upcoming event are a series of matches involving either a singles, multi-men, tag team, or a handicap match.
Trian dela Torre and Evan Carleaux – known as The Naughty Boys of PWR – will take on the couple of John Sebastian and Crystal for the PWR Tag Team Championship. And it came the roughest way possible. After winning the battle royal in RE5PETO, their contendership was put at stake when the PWR general manager Sebastian pit them against The YOLO Twins, then-the only tag team that they have to defeat, during PWR's latest live event Way Of The Champion.
And after some post-match shenanigans, TDT and Carleaux is set to make this contest more personal as they avenge the assault on Officer Tutan, GrabCamus, and Jhemerlhynn. Definitely, It will not be an easy task for the contenders as they will need more than the power of friendship to defeat wrestling royalty.
After a no-contest result last July, All Out War Champion Alexander Belmonte III has took the matters on his own hands and declared a war with its three contenders Sandata, Quattro, and Daxx Xaveira. Thus, making this championship bout a fatal-four way. Will the Warlord emerged victorious especially with the disadvantage he may get?
Bolt will face the team of Jan Evander and Super Vintendo in a handicap match. The YOLO Twins, The Kakaibros, and the renewed partnership of the Deadly Sinns (Mike Madrigal and Vladymr Sinnsyk) are set for a three-way tag team match. The Apocalypse, Martivo, and Chris Panzer will be also seeing in action, while a foreign-infused battle between Koto Hiro and Zayden Trudeau is expected to take place at Renaissance. Completing this wrestling showdown is the battle between partners-turned-rivals Brad Cruz and McKata.
