Makes me wonder: Glass is a movie that should focus on M. Night Shyamalan's villain who goes as an alter ego to Elijah Price, right?
But why didn't it feel that way? Well, in a way wherein Superhero movies are built in a very, very much-intense plot and full of fight scenes, Shyamalan's own trilogy of comic-plotted movies didn't rely much on the conventional methods of an action movie. Instead, he wrote his own formula which can be either a hit or miss by a single swing to its viewers.
And while UNBREAKABLE and SPLIT did splendid jobs in showcasing, it is a bit unfortunate for GLASS as it wasn't able to sustain the expectations they set. Though fuck predictability, as it showed defiance from the usual stereotypes – thanks to his idea of putting up twists among his supernatural works.
Plus say what you want to say, but James McAvoy owned the spotlight. Sorry, Samuel Jackson –
and that goes to you too, Mr. Bruce Willis. Look at him, he just portrayed 23 distinct characters, and that's so incredible to do in two successive films. What a show-stealer.
Underwhelming as it looks, Shyamalan's trifecta of supernatural thriller flicks had been a game-changing punch to the gut; taking the unconventional way and didn't seem to give a fuck on the cliffhanging aftermath – yes, no matter how it stings on my mind like I am watching a wrestling pay-per-view. They showcased more of mind games than a typical superhero film, which probably hated by everyone who craves for carnage, blood, and sadistic savagery.
The Verdict: 7.5
