The Scene Around: Cynthia Alexander with Joey Ayala at Conspiracy Garden Cafe

02/01/2019 11:55:11 PM

It's Sunday the 27th, most people are at homes or malls, taking a chill pill for what has been a stressful week. And while are doing the usual family-bonding affairs, Cynthia Alexander had a surprise second show at Conspiracy Cafe – just two weeks since her initial-staged gig.

Together with her brother Joey Ayala, the folk-pop siblings made everyone flocked the famous acoustic music bar in what has been a busy, blockbuster Sunday. Imagine four hours of intimate live music and every goodness in between.

Heck, they even started by around 6:30 PM;  and I and Kel were still then-somewhere in the outskirts of the huge Multinational Village in Paranaque City, just finished the shoot for her passion project. There's no other choice but to rush our way from the Down South to this famous acoustic spot in the medyo-Far North. We managed to come by around 7:15 PM, and just when we thought that will be it for one of the most-celebrated folk-pop singer-songwriter, we were damn wrong. The crowd kept wanting for more, and that's probably the highlight reel of the evening. Not bad for someone who just saw Cynthia Alexander in a bar gig for the very first time.

At the end of this wonderful Sunday night, Cynthia played for like two hours – Joey only had like an hour before turning over the stage to her sister for a short-but-sweet encore plus open jam. And despite the hefty door charge of PhP850 (with one free drink), it was a very busy day for everyone inside Conspiracy, and that's more special considering both Cynthia and Joey honoring their mother who passed away earlier that month, plus their serving as a follow-up to everyone who missed their previous outing.

What a spectacular weekend. Literally.
