Sixteen matches for WrestleMania 35. Yes. 16. FREAKIN'. MATCHES. Yes, as if 14 weren't enough for a 7-hour wrestling sports entertainment show, right?
And they are back in a similar location – the one they held in 2013. It's strange because its development counterpart was named NXT TakeOver New York and not Brooklyn V. Same fate as Orlando and New Orleans on the recent years.
Is it worthy to put my predictions here? Probably yes and probably no. But anyway, since I have been writing this shit as of now, let's do this pre-take.
A sudden addition to the already-overload card: Raw Tag Team Championship is on the line. For the second time, The Revival is competing – and defending the red-colored gold against the last-minute challengers in Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins.
And we all know how long is the (losing) streak of Hawkins, right? However, knowing how The Revival has been screwed up by the booking people, I think the Ryder-Hawkins duo will have their WrestleMania moment, just like how the RAW Tag Team Championship match had been treated like a serious joke last year.
Meanwhile, for the blue counterparts, The Usos walked in as tag team champions for the third time in five years. Last year, they didn't walk out with the title as The Bludgeon Brothers dethroned them. On the other hand, The Dusty Rhodes Classic winners Ricochet and Aleister Black has been rolling this weekend as they challenged the War Radiers for the NXT Tag Team Championship last Friday. Forget that they lost, but the fact remains that this duo has competed for all three brands for such championship matches.
The Bar, obviously, is on their way to raise the stock. They're also on the way to the redemption of their own. Last, the odd stirking duo of Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura could actually bag the blue straps come to Rusev Day, err, WrestleMania. This is going to be chaotic, but I think The King of Strong Style and The Bulgarian Brute may emerge victorious after the war.
Kurt Angle versus Baron Corbin in the former's last match in WWE. This seems underwhelming, though on the other hand, this may raise the stock of the latter. It can't be denied that this has been a product of a long-term storyline but didn't really develop accordingly. Corbin was supposed to be the authoritarian guy here, but faltered after ratings went low which prompted the McMahon Family to fully take over the roles. So just like that, it's the Authority 210938210974 again – just as half-face and half-heel characters.
An unfortunate fact, Corbin badly needed a win at WrestleMania. Given the traditional wrestling logic on the go-home episode of RAW? Oh, good luck. This could generate less heel heat than needed.
The good news about the Intercontinental Championship Match is that we will be seeing Finn Balor as The Demon King. But... why now? Finn could've suit up at Mania last year, but that would mean ditching his gimmick Balor Club for Everyone with the LGBT crowd behind him that time.
Just maybe, this WrestleMania seems to be the perfect time for him to unleash that, especially that he dealt with a bunch of handicap matches against Lio Rush and the IC champ Bobby Lashley in the past; and this is his time to win the white-and-gold.
In an interesting series of twists and turns, the United States Champion now is Samoa Joe. And this is apparently, going to be his WrestleMania debut against Rey Mysterio, who will have his son watching him at MetLife Stadium come Sunday.
I think Mysterio will win this one. Joe has a lot left in the tank to do more Manias anyway. But since Vince and his writers screwed his push during the Universal Champion days, god, this might be hard to tell.
