The Pre-Take: WWE WrestleMania 35 (Part 3)

04/06/2019 03:32:22 PM

Sixteen matches for WrestleMania 35. Yes. 16. FREAKIN'. MATCHES. Yes, as if 14 weren't enough for a 7-hour wrestling sports entertainment show, right?

And they are back in a similar location – the one they held in 2013. It's strange because its development counterpart was named NXT TakeOver New York and not Brooklyn V. Same fate as Orlando and New Orleans on the recent years.

Is it worthy to put my predictions here? Probably yes and probably no. But anyway, since I have been writing this shit as of now, let's do this pre-take.

One of the high-profile match taking place at WrestleMania is AJ Styles versus Randy Orton. Hmmm, hope the match live beyond the under-hyped build-up, considering the focus in on the WWE Championship and that main event. Looks like an instant classic at works for the Phenomenal One and the Legend-Killer, but Styles is my pick to win.

Shane McMahon versus The Miz in a falls count anywhere match. It's actually odd to see them in their unusual selves. Well, Shane has been good as a face authority figure during his time 'til Fastlane, and Miz has been spectacular as a villain. And this is just one of those no-disqualification stapled matches at Mania, and hope we don't get tired while watching The Show of Shows. Miz must win.

So here we are, seeing two 50-year old wrestlers going at it for one last time (err, hopefully) this Sunday. It was one of the long-time feuds that first ignited during the 1000th episode of SmackDown. Truth be told, Hunter hadn't beat Batista in all the previous three tries in the 2000s. Will Sunday be the first and only one, like how The Rock defeated Triple H in their WrestleMania trifecta?

Obviously, Batista is taking his talents to the movie house, so let's pick HHH for this one, aside from the obvious that he's running the business.

The WWE Women's Tag Team Champion is on the line, and it will be on a fatal-4-way match – the second for the event. Makes me wonder: maybe, by the time Sasha Banks and Bayley lost the titles, we could finally see their rivalry move up, after numerous times of petty break-ups and teases.

I'll pick The Iiconics for this match. It's about time SmackDown holds the fort of these golds.

Another lacking build-up is this match between Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns. Probably because of timing. Wish this was Dean Ambrose's final match before heading on his way out of WWE. Oh wait, they crossed paths before, right? But that went abrupt and a lot have probably forgotten about it because of how many times The Lunatic Fringe had been getting into The Scottish Psychopath's face.

But for obvious reasons, I think Reigns will win this. He beat leukemia to a pulp recently, and it will suck if the big dog will lose his return Mania match – as awful or atrocious as last year against Brock Lesnar.
