The Pre-Take: WWE WrestleMania 35 (Part 4: The Main Event)

04/06/2019 07:35:56 PM

Sixteen matches for WrestleMania 35. Yes. 16. FREAKIN'. MATCHES. Yes, as if 14 weren't enough for a 7-hour wrestling sports entertainment show, right?

And they are back in a similar location – the one they held in 2013. It's strange because its development counterpart was named NXT TakeOver New York and not Brooklyn V. Same fate as Orlando and New Orleans on the recent years.

Is it worthy to put my predictions here? Probably yes and probably no. But anyway, since I have been writing this shit as of now, let's do this pre-take.

Supposedly, Seth Rollins versus Brock Lesnar is set for the main event. After all, the King Slayer that won this year's Royal Rumble match has set his eyes on the Universal Champion. And frankly, who wants to see a part-timer, who couldn't go for a match on the red brand show, as a title-holder? That has been a problem for the better (or worse) part of the past two years.

It is time for the Beast Slayer to burn Suplex City to the ground.

Meanwhile, KofiMania is running wild, especially after a superb performance during that SmackDown episode. Whatever that went abrupt for Mustafa Ali, Kofi Kingston filled them all.

Is it going to be a New Day come WrestleMania time? Part of me thinks it will be. Defeating the WWE planet champion Daniel Bryan may be defined as a predictive miracle, given the presumptions of fans recently. But it will be a challenge for WWE on how to still make it a surprise.  But it could be a no if the faction will implode, something that's totally uncharacteristic and incomprehensible if based on the development of their characters as a unit.

It's about time, Kofi. The fruit of 11-year labor should bear on this Sunday.

And capping this long grueling evening will be the triple threat match for both RAW and SmackDown Women's Championships. Interesting. Initially, I thought it was just a singles match or a 3-way dance without putting the titles on the line.

This year's WrestleMania main event has been a product of a series of plans and ditches. Of course, it was rumored since last year that Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair was scheduled to face each other at Mania '19; and the fact that Becky Lynch upped her game by post-SummerSlam that their projected Survivor Series ignited warfare for the ages – something that evidently displayed during that go-home RAW episode before Survivor Series

But of course, thanks to a hard punch that was done by accident, the Irish Lass Kicker wasn't able to suit up at WWE's last biggest show of the year – much to everyone's disappointment. And her sudden addition to the Royal Rumble (replacing Lana in the process) has given the new leaf to revive the story that every WWE fan has been waiting for. However, the culmination must end at the Show of Shows even if you add the shoehorn to the match and put some twists and turns to the extent of making everyone confused as a result.

The MAN would definitely take them all titles home. A Charlotte victory would draw the ire of fans. But what if Ronda beats them both and bagging both RAW and SmackDown women's title would really solidify herself as indeed The Baddest Woman On The Planet anew? Well, all I can say is anything can happen.

Anyway, in the metro, there are two WrestleMania viewing parties to be held by Monday morning. There's one organized by Smark Henry and Philippine Wrestling Revolution at Skinny Mike's in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig; and another at Vspot Restobar in Katipunan Avenue, Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

Choose your poison, but be there early as these venues are expected to be filled up (as in SRO levels) by the sunrise. Both parties start by the time WrestleMania kickoff party starts... at 5:00 AM, Manila time!
