Exactly a year ago, Manila Wrestling Federation made a massive revamp – a feat that later translated into slating six shows during the better part of 2018, a series of cameos from the likes of Maria Ozawa and Brandon Vera, and an inaugural championship won eventually by the history-making highflyer Robin Sane. Since then, MWF went on a break during the entire first quarter of 2019
Four months since the hiatus, the wrestling promotion is back for its first event in 2019 this Saturday. It will be staged at a different venue and a free-for-all approach.
After waging its house shows at Makati Cinema Square during its early days and at Quezon City last year, MWF 7: Kasaysayan will be staged at Mandala Park in Shaw Boulevard, and this marks the first time this company will hold a show in Mandaluyong City. It's even interesting when MWF announced this event with absolutely no ticket charges or entrance fees for visitors and patrons.
MWF 7: Kasaysayan will feature a classic speed-vs.-power battle for MWF's coveted title. Robin Sane, the winner of the MWF Championship Tournament will be facing a strong formidable opponent for his first title defense. “Danger” Rex Lawin earned the right to face Sane after winning a fatal-4-way match that took place at MWF 6: Noche Buena last December. Will the daredevil be able to get past this challenging brute come Saturday?
Meanwhile, mirroring the currently-ongoing election hype is the campaign tussle between Mike Shannon and Coach Gus Queens for the position of the MWF Commissioner. This is one cold war about to unfold: will the incumbent Shannon be able to retain his position at the company? Is the dubious-yet-popular entrepreneur emerge victorious in his challenge? Find out as they embark on such a journey at Kasaysayan.
There are other matches and happenings taking place during this event.
The sinister Liwanags will square off against the aptly-dubbed Youngbloods of the MWF. Can Frankie Thurteen and Morgan Vaughn be able to withstand the preaches of Jomar and the returning Moises Liwanag?
The MWF pillar and founding member Mr. Lucha will clash with a mysterious figure from his past, Luchadonna.
The physically-gifted previously-undefeated superstar Fabio Makisig will attempt to rebound from a crucial loss when he takes on the federation's resident hypebeast, Khayl Sison. This will probably steal the show, considering how vicious these two wrestlers are, in my opinion.
Ninja Ryujin and Gigz Stryker will be in action during the event, too; while the fate of the fresh UP Graduate RG will be revealed.
MWF 7: Kasaysayan will be taking place this Saturday, 13 April 2019, at Mandala Park in Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City. Admission is free. Show starts at 6:00PM.
