Filipino alt-rock outfit the vowels they orbit has reached the second spot of the streaming chart through their latest song "Selos." It was a milestone that has made their name resounding further since joining Sony Music Philippines, with most especially since first hitting the upper bracket of the Spotify Philippines' Viral 50.
Taken into account its viral appeal, the vowels they orbit's debut single joins the company of Lil Nas and Billy Cyrus' "Old Town Road" and Allmo$t's "Dalagang Pilipina" as one of the most popular songs in the country, as per Spotify Philippines' tracking last May 2019.
"Selos" started gaining traction after the band performed the song at iWant ASAP Highlights last month. Thanks to its relatable lyrics, melodic pop appeal, and lighthearted jazzy chords, the band has been on the roll and continues to shred listeners' hearts into pieces without resorting to overwrought sentimentality.
Produced by Rye Sarmiento and composed by Darwin Hernandez, the vowels they orbit's maiden release was recorded at the Backdoor Studio. The song talks about "one-sided jealousy," putting into light a normal situation that one goes through in a romantic relationship.
Following the release of Selos, the vowels they orbit are set to release an EP soon.
The vowels they orbit is a five-person band from Manila, Philippines. They are comprised of Nikka Melchor (Vocals), Jeremy Sayas (Drums), Hannah Dela Cruz (Keyboard), Gene Santiago (Guitars) and Patch Javier (Bass). The band is currently being managed by Soupstar Entertainment, a music management group that takes pride in its star-studded roster such as Sandwich, Pedicab, Moonstar88, 6cyclemind, Gracenote, Imago and more.
"Selos" is now available on streaming and download platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes store, and Deezer via Sony Music Philippines.
