If you're looking for an Independence Day event to go around, then how about this historically-driven musical as a choice to do so?
Ephesus Teatron Group Inc. proudly presents Reminiscences, a Philippine independence tribute concert featuring selected Philippine revolutionary-themed folk songs, and TRIBU as its performers.
TRIBU is a cast of 7 world-class artists from the musical theater world. This energetic and passion crew comprises of Sweet Samaniego-Buchanan, Margarita Roco, Steven Hotchkiss, Terence Guillermo, Red Nuestro, Onyl Torrres, and Kim Dominik Sarmiento as its pianist. Expect this heptad to perform a repertoire of unforgettable patriotic songs of freedom, love, and inspiration such as Bayan Ko, Sa Mahal Kong Bayan, and Pilipinas Kong Mahal to commemorate the 121st anniversary of the Philippine Independence.
REMINISCENCES will be split into two acts. The first one describes the beautiful Philippines through a medley of folk songs such as Sa Ugoy Ng Duyan, Ili Ili Tulog Anay, Pen Pen de Sarapen, Bahay Kubo, Leron Leron Sinta, and Pamulinawen. Meanwhile, the second half will showcase some of the songs depicting heroism such as Alerta Katipunan, Canto de Maria Clara, and Pag-Ibig Sa Tinubuang-Lupa.
Known as one of the songs during the revolutionary period in the late 1800s, Alerta Katipunan is a Spanish song that has been adopted by the Katipunan and utilized them as its official marching anthem.
Originally derived a Noli Me Tangere chapter, Canto de Maria Clara tackles Rizal's feelings for the motherland and his premonition of the coming doom.
Pag-Ibig Sa Tinubang-Lupa is a known masterpiece of Andres Bonifacio. It is an exhortation to the Filipino people to join the crusade for Philippine independence.
All of the songs are musically arranged by Pipo Cifra and Sweet Buchanan.
REMINISCENCES will be taking place this Tuesday and Wednesday, 11-12 June 2019, at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in RCBC Plaza, Makati City. The show starts at 7:00PM on Tuesday, and 3:00 and 7:00PM on Wednesday. Tickets may be availed via Ticketworld at 891-9999.
