Two and a half decades later, the Ultraelectromagneticpop fever lives on as Sony Music Philippines, together with Offshore Music, unveils the 25th anniversary edition of this album in vinyl this Sunday.
It was in summer of 1993 when The Eraserheads released this studio album that has further cemented their legacy as one of the most-popular Filipino pop rock bands of all-time. The quartet of Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro penned and performed the likes of “Tindahan ni Aling Nena,” “Pare Ko,” “Ligaya,” and “Toyang” – three of their plethora of songs that launched their careers to stratosphere,; in time for the then-budding Pinoy Rock Explosion era.
Fast-forward to 2019, music lovers and E-heads fans are in from a treat with the launching of vinyl – featuring all of its tracks, remastered by its Bernie Gundman, a renowned audio engineer who worked for several critically-acclaimed recordings such as Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Prince’s Dirty Mind, and Dr. Dre’s The Chronic. Buendia personally handpicked- the Grammy award-winning music maestro after collaborating with him on Apartel's sophomore album “Fuill Flood” in 2018.
“You don’t give Bernie Grundman instructions, you just trust his ears,” said Buendia, also the top honcho of Offshore Music. “The remaster sounds bigger and clearer to me.”
This culminated a buzzing journey that all started from searching for its mastertapes somewhere in Laguna. The Eraserheads Ultraelectromagneticpop! 25th Anniversary Numbered Limited Edition vinyl are pressed at Record Technology Incorporated (RTI) Camarillo, California, and packaged using premium quality Old Style Tip-On Gatefold Jackets by Stoughton Printing Company.
The pre-order period that took place last month also saw how high of its hype when the the first batch of 25th anniversary vinyl reissue of Ultraelectromagneticpop! immediately sold out in less than four minutes, setting another unprecedented record in local music history.
Be the first to own the Ultraelectromagneticpop 25th anniversary remastered vinyl, which will be exclusively available on 24 November 2019, Sunday at Eastwood Central Plaza in Quezon City from 11am onwards. This tribute event also comes with a concert featuring performances from the country's finest acts such as The Itchyworms, Barbie Almalbis, Cheats, Nathan & Mercury, Pinkmen, We Got!, and Nobody’s Home.
