If you're looking for something to watch for the coming Yuletide season, how about some brand-new experience that is watching a professional wrestling show? Because Manila Wrestling Federation returns its iteration of the annual Christmas combat event, Noche Buena, this December at the PETA Theater Center.
The up and coming spectacle will banner a match that isn't just only for the Pinoy Wrestling Championship, but a contest among the pioneers of the sport that is nine years in the making. It is said to be a perfect gift for the members of Manilaverse or Kapafeds – and the entire Filipino wrestling community as a whole – as the current MWF Champion Jake De Leon and the federation's folk hero Fabio Makisig will finally clash a la mano y mano.
These two members are known to be historically pioneer figures in the Philippine wrestling scene. Jake De Leon – who also competes in various wrestling leagues across Southeast Asia and became part of the WWE Tryouts at one point – is part of the original members of the now-defunct Philippine Wrestling Revolution. He was a two-time champion and has set the standards above as then the-premier wrestling promotion in the country. Following his departure from PWR, Jake De Leon took his talents to MWF along with his #PWOGs tag team partner Ken Warren, and has won the MWF Pinoy Wrestling Championship last September at Road To Fate.
Fabio Makisig, on the other hand, is one of the responsible for building the MWF from the ground up. Since its year zero, the street-smart grappler from Batasan who showcased incredible athleticism, has been one of the notable personalities for the federation, and in very few occasions, came close to winning the MWF Championship. Would the third time be the charm on his quest for the title come December?
Recently, MWF announced an additional match on the card, and it's for the Malaysia Pro Wrestling Wrestlecon Championship between current title-holder Crystal and the first transwoman wrestler in Southeast Asia Chelsea Marie.
But other than the title matches, MWF Noche Buena features a quirky, colorful, and diverse cast of fighters, led by former MWF Champion Robin Sane, and SETUP Thailand Undisputed 24/7 Champion Bro. Jomar Liwanag, to name a few. Add to that is the next next generation of Pinoy wrestlers, including the controversial “conyo” Migs Valdez; and “Ang Angas ng Cavite” Danny Zamora, as well as other MWF aspirants looking to fill a roster filled with incredibly entertaining performers like Razael, Dabid Ravena, St. John Martin, Ken Cifer and Kanto “Kilabot” Terror.
MWF Noche Buena 2022 emanates from the PETA Theater Center in Eymard Drive, New Manila, Quezon City. Don’t miss this year’s hard-hitting, non-stop-action Christmas combat event! Get your tickets now via at Ticket2Me, or MWF’s official homepage www.manilawrestling.com.
