Sometimes, I wonder whether I should be writing something about this event that happened nearly a couple of months ago, or not.
But for all we know, we have missed wrestling viewing parties – and I mean the real thing when people gather up and watch the shows together even if it's just at a sports bar, or any other regular venue. Hell, nothing beats the feeling of hanging around with friends and random people who share the same interest as yours that is pro wrestling.
This past February, several groups related to local pro wrestling scene held an event intended for the wrestling fans – but it wasn't just any other watching parties, because Dexcon also served as a mini-convention program with all the cards, other merchandise items, and content creators doing their own thing as long as it's wrestling. Proving this was a couple of tapings for Martin (MARTIN!) and Fight Sports Manila's podcast featuring wrestlers-slash-card collectors Ken Warren and Ken Cifer.
The first Dexcon featured a watching party for the WWE Elimination Chamber premium live event that has been headlined by the most compelling storyline in the Stamford-based promotion at the time: Roman Reigns versus Sami Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
Aside from watching the good stuff that is wrestling itself, there was also raffle prizes and cosplayers who suited up for the event to make Dexcon a fun time to hang around even on a rainy Sunday morning. Hey, not to mention, there were also free food and drinks there, so perfect for someone who missed almost the entire show and went there in empty stomach.
Speaking of which, another Dexcon happened on Sunday, 2 April 2023, in time for the night 1 of WrestleMania Goes Hollywood as it will be streamed live during the event. It's all taking place at the CardBros Hobby Shop located in E. Rodriguez Avenue, Quezon City.
While I initially heard the slots are full, everyone who suit up were in for another morning treat of craziness that is the Showcase of the Immortals. There's also a possibility that later in the year, DexCon would hold their events in time for most of WWE's biggest premium live events such as SummerSlam.
