Have fun learning all about dog training and disaster preparedness with the UPMV K9 Corps!
Established in 2017, the University of the Philippines –Metro Manila Development Authority – UP Vanguard, Inc. (UPMV) K9 Corps is a non-profit partnership aimed at training local communities and their pets in basic search-and-rescue and disaster response. To date, there are already close to a hundred volunteers and K9s in the program, with Batch 11 already in training.
This year, we’re celebrating seven years of resilience and community spirit with "Aso ni Juan: Getting Ready for the Big One! Presents BARK-kada!", a four-week festival of fun and games aimed at helping everyone get ready for the unexpected with our family, friends – and, of course, our fur babies – by our side.
It’s a whole month of bonding, learning, and playing, all aimed at getting us all ready for anything that may come our way. Because when the going gets tough, the tough get barking!
BARK-kada! is made possible by our official partners, UP Vanguard Inc. - Makati Chapter, the Philippine Coast Guard, and OCR Dogs Pinas; our animal welfare partner, Animal Kingdom Foundation; our disaster preparedness partners, Team Rescue 8 and Technical Rescue Assistance Unit & Medical Aid (TRAUMA); and our media partners, The Manila Bulletin and Animal Scene.
