The Best Hour Experience

04/18/2025 03:59:41 PM

They say late afternoons are best time of the day for merry-making – at least, if you want to avoid the rush and thus, afford more choices of your food and drink.

While it's no secret that Molito Lifestyle Center is more known for having bunches of various dining outlet with such flair and open spaces that people tend to hang around by the late, there's an emerging events venue around its vicinity that guarantees to become the new destination for entertainment in the South.

They may be two years old now, but Bar IX has its potential for a nightlife spot with that wide stage size, booth seating that are placed in semi-dome, amphitheater-like setting, and impressive lights and sound system that can give other premium music clubs a run for their money. I'm glad they also started catering to other forms of live music shows like the ones being run by certain production outfits with a mix of quality acts from the independent acts to solid headliners.

But I'm more impressed that Bar IX has begun maximizing their operation hours by putting up their Best Hour, their own version of happy hour which not only offered a more affordable price for their drinks (specifically, Coke and San Mig Light), but a dinner experience that serves beyond pre-game levels, if you're going to a show there. I mean, they have two sets of food deals which are similarly priced for 1499 pesos for 4 pax – that's almost 350 bucks per person.

For that afternoon, though, my group and I decided to try our palates on their set of local flavors, which comprises Crispy Pork Adobo, Chicken Inasal, Spicy Squid and Pineapple Fried Rice. And I must say, some dishes here were cooked different from what I initially perceived (like their own take on chicken inasal), but nonetheless impressive, gives value for the money, and delicious. I mean, hey, pineapple bits on a fried rice? It kinda looks sweetness overload from the term itself but it wasn't – it was the right kind that my taste buds prefer. I rarely eat seafoods, but their spicy squid got me good, even if I literally just had a single bite, since my companions dug them all. I super loved their adobo though, especially with the egg yolk which helped them elevate its taste.

All in all, that combo's quite a good starter for a dinner down there. Maybe I should test their other set which feels like more appropriate for a pre-game if I go there for another music show. But speaking of which, Best Hour dining experience compliments what Bar IX chill sounds like as the dusk starts to settle with their own serving of acoustic acts on stage.

Bar IX's Best Hour is happening every 5-8pm whenever they're open. Bar IX is located at the Molito Lifestyle Center in Alabang-Zapote Road, Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
