69 Filipino songs that rocked my life in 2010s (Part 5)

01/30/2020 08:42:56 PM

It's a shame that it took me two months to finish this personal project. I initially had this in mind since late November and worked on the draft by mid-December. Anyway, here it goes...

PlayBack: Jensen and The Flips – Honeymoon (album)

07/26/2017 12:40:01 AM

I've been dying to do this album review since this month last year since July actually marked the formal launching of this record that has probably set them in the stratosphere of the current independent music scene.

The Scene Around: saGujio 13th Anniversary

06/08/17 01:48:00 PM

It was a rainy Saturday night to remember in the latter part of May as one of the metropolitan's best live music venues celebrated their 13 years of existence, and it was red hot as devilish fuck.

The Scene Around: Get Music Indie-Go

06/05/2017 06:45:36 AM

It was a blockbuster Saturday evening wherein events are like “here, there, and everywhere”; making the nightlife and music scene alive and vibrant after a while (Who says our local music died in the first place?!).

And amidst the controversial surrounding the word usage and ticket prices during their preparation phase, MCA Music was still able to stage the event called Get Music Indie-Go at the Mall of Asia arena. Yes, despite the delay of time schedule, lack of needed hype, and watching attendance spanning around hundreds of people.

Marching Blockbusters Ready For Take Off!

03/02/2017 06:19:26 AM

The first weekend of March 2017 seems very interesting for the local music scene, as for three days there will be series of launches for new singles, videos, and albums. That's aside from having a music festival, an album bar tour, and some sets of heavyweight gigs during these upcoming times. In the great words of my senior friends Mr. Cris O. Ramos, it's tanking season as if the NBA Playoffs, the ongoing PBA Finals, and WrestleMania season approaches by the same way as the country has been on transition from the cold season to summer.

The Scene Around: Jack Attack

12/26/2016 11:09:32 PM

On a random time in July, I strolled around the nearest hangout place Eastwood City just to (well, obviously) hangout and get away from all those personal breakdowns I ever had for the past few months of my life. It has been a rocky year and yet I managed to utter these words despite just hitting the halfway point of 2016.

The Scene Around: Docdefy IV

01/04/2017 07:31:25 PM

In celebration of four years in making noise at the independent music stage, Docdef Productions brought the big-time gig scenery into a different setting – that is to celebrate their anniversary up to the rooftop.

29 December 2016

Upcoming: Docdefy IV

12/29/2016 10:45:41 PM

There are some yearend gatherings around the metropolitan, big or small. Sometimes, they would set them on the 30th of December, second to the final day of the year. And some of these final bang events would take centerstage on Marikina City.

That being said, the eastern side of Metro Manila will be the pinnacle point of the final Friday evening of 2016 as Docdef Productions will slate their anniversary gig afar from what has been the typical one.

The Scene Around: Route 196 10th Anniversary

10/24/2016 01:45:48 AM

Route 196, the Metro Manila north side's favorite live music place, celebrated their 10th anniversary last Saturday, 22 October 2016, the massive way!

While some of the early attendants were in for a treat (that includes yours truly, by the way), the show kicked off at 9:30 PM with Lions and Acrobats. Next came the crowd darlings Jensen and The Flips. And I think it wasn't really a bad set despite some technical difficulties surrounding them.

The Scene Around: Monster Indie Ground 2

10/11/2016 02:59:34 AM

Monster RX 93.1 is giving the country's music scene a much even stronger exposure courtesy of Indie Ground, a music program that gives several bands from the indies a chance to be heard in the metro-wide radio.

And that being said, Monster Indie Ground staged three bar tours during their anniversary month (August 2016). Yours truly managed to storm by Black Kings Bar at West Triangle in Quezon City for the second leg of the event.

The Scene Around: Autotelic "Papunta Pabalik" Album Launch

10/06/2016 03:07:26 PM

Almost two years ago, when I first hear them live in a gig at Route 196, I already had made a prophecy in mind. This band will be the next big thing in the pop music scene soon. (At least, if not right now.)

And with a music market and an anniversary gig happening around Makati City, these dudes will ne the standout for the evening. And why not? It's true enough.

It was a night to remember last Saturday at B-Side at The Collective as MCA Music presents the Autotelic's Papunta Pabalik album launch.

The Scene Around: Sagana

09/20/2016 11:16:30 AM

After being postponed twice in over the span of almost two months, the biggest gathering of OPM artists finally took place – though in a different venue, and it all happened on a (thank goodness) calmed weather of that Saturday afternoon.

OPM High Sagana took place last Saturday, 11 September 2016, at the Estancia mall in Capitol Commons, Pasig City.

The Scene Around: SM City Marikina Indiefest

06/07/2016 12:42:22 AM

It's interesting to see the mall giant SM taking one step in appreciating the country's music scene, especially in their 30th year in the business. And while Beatstroked proved they could handle such events at the Eastern side of the Metro (Taytay, Rizal, to be exact), Marikina was the stage to showcase the up-and-comers during that fateful evening of Friday, 20 May 2016, as SM City Marikina celebrated Indiefest Summer Music Festival

18 May 2016

Upcoming: SM City Marikina's INDIEFEST Summer Music Festival

05/18/2016 08:39:59 AM

As part of the celebration of 30 years of shopping, SM Supermalls have been staging several festivities. We have seen Taytay, Rizal rocked last Friday night when they staged Beatstroked, the biggest Summer Music Festival in the East, featuring Parokya Ni Edgar, Mayonnaise, and a lot of notable bands in the music industry.

Last Sunday, Tanya Markova and other musicians have rocked SM City San Mateo with their Summer Music Party.

Now, it's Marikina's turn to waged a music fest of their own as SM City Marikina brings you Indiefest, Summer Music Festival. And it featured the very first gathering of indie scene's finest!

The Scene Around: Banna Harbera Persistence EP Launch

05/14/2016 09:08:31 PM

I have said this before, even if it already happened: We just had back-to-back album launches for the last two days of April 2016. While MilesExperience just had their biggest gig, the night before (29 April) served as Banna Harbera's launch of their second EP titled Persistence.

The Scene Around: MilesExperience Again & Against Album Launch

05/14/2016 11:22:13 AM

It was a labor day weekend, considered a holiday for a lot of us in celebration of us, people of the working class in this country. Thus, the music has offered a variety of treats for us. There are some big-time events happening around the metro such as Wetfest, PULP Summer Slam, Satchmi Vinyl Day, even the rally for a presidential candidate featured a lot of musical icons from one generation to another.

20 April 2016

Upcoming: Banna Harbera Persistence EP Launch

04/20/2016 08:31:12 AM

2016 has graced a lot of awesome happenings so far, with SUD (with Words Anonymous), Tom's Story, The Anton Molina Project, PAUL, and MilesExperience launched their respective records over the first four months of the year. Also, the likes of MilesExperience, Toni B. and Jensen and The Flips formally graced their music videos.

That being said, for the last two nights of April 2016, we will be witnessing back-to-back EP/album launches that has been making waves at the music scene so far. And here is one of them, is this soul alternative quintet.
