Pulling the Punches

10/14/16 07:34:34 PM

I just want to put up a quick rundown on this fight, since one of my friends are apparently spoiling me out (just kidding, Gab!) during that online conversation we have last Sunday morning. And i'm talking about Michael Bisping going successful in his first title defense against Dan Henderson in UFC 204.

The Scene Around: ONE Championship Open Workout

10/06/2016 06:27:06 PM

Things are going well here at the mixed martial arts scene here in the country. Just when one thought the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will stage their Fight Night Manila tour again here in barely a week time, the Asia's biggest mixed martial arts firm just had their open workout here at the Music Hall of the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Heel Mode!

Seeing Conor McGregor waging a fight against the World Wrestling Entertainment might give you a first impression: This guy may have been talking too real here, but failed to realized the latter's superstars were doing it to entertain everyone, and not to do a total fight business like the firm where he belongs to, the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

We all know what's about to go down late this month: Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton in WWE's second biggest party called SummerSlam. The announcement took place even before Lesnar hit the weighing scale for his one-time show-off at the Ultimate Fighting Championship against Mark hunt last July.

Good Fight, Ugly Decision-Making?!

I saw the main event of UFC 195 last week. It’s been a very long while since the last time I have seen a very good fight at the MMA world.

Perhaps, a good fight; but with a ‘disgusting’ result. A split decision was awarded to Robbie Lawler; thus making his title defense successful once again despite his opponent Carlos Condit (the fourth contender for their division) dominating on majority of the fight.

Gone In 13 Seconds

12/13/2015 2:39:15 PM

What can you do in 13 seconds? Cross a street, take a bite of a munchkin, run a hundred meters? Drink a can of beer or energy drink? Watch a vine or an Instagram-length video? A lot, right?

But how about knocking down your opponent much faster than Ronda Rousey?

Yeah, like how far did that go from this...

Hyped For Fight

12/12/2015 6:08:14 PM

I’ve seen the clips of pre-fight confrontations a lot of times. Perhaps, Jose Aldo vs. Connor McGregor was considered almost one full-year in the making. The so-called biggest fight of the year was supposedly schedule July 10. But due to Aldo’s injury, the plan was shelved, at least.

Five months later, it’s happening for real. And what makes this fight more interesting is the hype that’s more realistic than anyone who fought at the UFC. And hey, WWE creative peeps, this may not be the wrestling type you guys are handling, but this is how you establish a feud and hype them accordingly!

Knocked Down In 16 Seconds

7/15/2014 10:59:14 PM

I rarely watch any matches from the Ultimate Fighting Championship; and in case I managed to really catch up, I ended up seeing this lady named Ronda Rousey.

Wow, this chick’s not just your ordinary fighter, aye? She’s been jeered like a wrestling; heel and the next time around, praised like a real champ. Prior to battling Alexis Davis on UFC 175, Rousey had dominated almost all of her MMA fights by submission – with 7 of her 8 armbar victories came on the first round alone.

Now that’s a toughass chick right there.
