The iBlog10 Experience (Part 2)

4/9/2014 10:43:02 AM

There are so many memories and learning from Day 1. I know, the question from your mind goes: hey slick, how about the second?

Well, that is something I am gonna tell you for today. No need to worry, alright?

The iBlog10 Experience (Part 1)

4/8/2014 8:36:03 PM

It was like ten months in the making. And in fact, they just celebrated their ten years in this venture. And when they formally announced the event, I was one of the people who were more excited. Yes, frankly speaking, I was really looking forward for the 10th Philippine Blogging Summit.

I wasted no time in deciding (since being too patient is not really part of my personality at all): I immediately signed my name there, and bet my money that I could not really afford to miss this big thing in blogging (nah, just kidding on the latter part).

4/2/2014 10:50:00 PM

Here’s something I spotted over last month. Well, that was the evening of March 12 to be exact.

Monolith has launched their fun run for a cause. It will happen at April 27, Sunday, at the Mall of Asia grounds in Pasay City.

Why Should You Attend iBlog10?

4/2/2014 9:56:29 PM

Last year, I attended their ninth seminar in over the same span of years. Actually, it’s the second day of the event.

I can still remember that one female student who tipped me for the conference (at that time, she was approaching me to be one of her group’s respondents in their thesis).

And after all of the timing, I managed to take home a gift pack (which was then I gave to my ex-girlfriend as a gift on our half-anniversary) and a T-shirt which I also won at their raffle.

But aside from the prizes, there are more things out there which are more worth to cherish – and that is what I called “learning.”

The Review: Lego Movie

2/22/2014 3:25:10 PM

Hmm, since I was a kid, LEGO used to be one of my ultimate favourite toys (aside from Matchbox and its Asian version, TOMICA, of course) But Lego was more popular than anyone else, unless you’re a girl and of course, Barbie used to be the hit for you female kids out there.

But, a building block toy, turned out to be a movie? Say, it’s like I’ve been waiting this for more than a decade and a half from my imagination. Or did anyone like saw this coming before?

The Scene Around: PBA Manila Clasico Semis Game 5

2/10/2014 12:43:34 PM

It’s been more than a year since the last time I watched a PBA game live from the venue itself.
With an exciting vibe on Game 5 with then teams Ginebra and San Mig tied with 2 apiece in their Philippine Cup semifinals, I took a chance to grab a ticket and a seat (though we can’t blame if things nowadays are kinda expensive) to the Big Dome to witness who will about to take a 3-2 lead in the 2014 PLDT HOME-DSL All-Filipino cup.

Talk About Juan's Art

2/5/2014 5:44:59 PM

Meanwhile, let’s talk about art. No, it’s not just my opinion for art’s sake like the way I did on August 2011. What I mean is… this!

Well, you wonder “for earth’s sake, slickmaster, is that what you call art?”

I’ll tell you, “Yes, it is! Definitely!” And I should recommend you to check this guy’s artworks.

The Review: The Wolf of Wall Street

2/1/2014 10:16:14 AM

I used to wonder before about this movie’s screenplay as I have seen its trailer, plus the awards they garnered at the Academy Awards. And it seems that really convinced me to watch the flick entitled “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

That time though it’s like these ‘desperate measures’ are haunting me as TWOWS was only available to the Metropolitan’s selected cinemas, especially with the advent of 47 Ronin, Bride for Rent, and some surviving MMFF entries routing the movie houses to make sales.

Wait a second. What the hell is this ‘wolf of wall street?’

Cafe Scientique Talks: Why Should We Bother With Science? (And Climate Change As Well)

12/‎15/‎2013 1:50:04 PM

Poster of Cafe Scientique. (Photo credit: http://sailorstarcatcher.net/)

Let's face it: one of the least interesting topics we used to have in our respective everyday lives is "science." And with the advent of climate change issues, most of us tend to ignore everything that we may need to know. But the even worst scenario is if all else fails, I mean everything around us are totally ravaged due to our own share of indolence, unawareness and failure to prepare, we blame the government.

Bustin’ Blocks (The Notable WWE Matches in 2013)

12/13/2013 3:37:04 PM

I first wrote this shit a few days before the last most-awaited electrifying showdown in Houston, Texas. However, I might update this thing soon, or maybe I’ll work on a part two to cope up with the other fights that I personally missed watching due to low reception of my free TV channel here at home and unavailability to access the other clips on the internet as well.

Okay, I might be a toughie. But I have to admit, my elementary classmates were even tougher than I do if we’re talking about knowledge in the sport of wrestling, the entire World Wrestling Entertainment and its superstars.

And it’s only this year when I managed to have some time watching the huge events on free TV, just like the old days when Channel 9 is still doing the boyish, if not equally-gendered broadcast programming. Yes, thanks to my now-defunct Cherry Mobile unit that has a free TV feature, I can managed to catch a thing on Studio 23 during its WWE broadcast.

But I’ll also give credit to my father for he granted our wish for more sensible programming thru Destiny Cable. Yes, in case you still rant “Why for the motherfucking hell sakes, the Smackdown is not airing on our local TV?” I can only give you an answer: Try FOX channel – I mean the Philippine version (it’s different from Fox Filipino).

Nah, forget the “scripted” reason though; I’ll say these are the best battles I have seen in the world of sports-entertainment known as WWE.

Throwback: LEGO Christmas Exhibit

12/24/2013 12:14:20 PM

Want some piece of throwback Christmas? I’m not a Santa Clause, but I’ll give you a dose anyway. Lots of doses, in fact.

Let me take you to a trip back in a memory lane as here’s something I spotted two years ago.

Chronicles Of A Radio Kid – Life and Death (November 8, 2010)

11/8/2013 9:35:53 PM

The Review: THOR The Dark World

11/9/2013 10:20:51 AM

Thor’s second movie was all about adventures on the dark world, a follow-up sequel to the first American superhero movie in 2011 and the cross-over The Avengers in summer 2012. Honestly speaking, I can’t tell you much on how did the story rolled, except that Thor must face a vengeful medieval force who threatened to turn the nine realms universe to darkness, and as well as for the Mighty avenger to embark on the most perilous journey he could ever deal with alongside the earthling Jane Foster and Loki, with desperation.

Tayuan Mo at Panindigan (The Tribute)

10/27/2013 6:05:43 PM

Kailangan: Tayuan Mo at Panindigan.”

Pero I can't help it eh.

Book Review: The Best of This Is A Crazy Planets Book 2

9/30/2013 3:32:53 PM

So… the planets have gone crazy again, eh?

One hell-sick-noisemaker in the name of Lourd de Veyra has a lot more to tell, and it’s all in his second book – the book 2 of This Is A Crazy Planets (With no pun intended, but the last word was spelled right even if you argue on the grammatical structure of the entire title).

This Is A Crazy Planets is the Radioactive Sago Project frontman-slash-TV5 personality‘s blog section at the lifestyle website SPOT.ph; and selected articles from the said blog site (dated from 2011-2013) were the main content of his second book: From foodie to selfie; from offending religious feelings, to the “baby” informal settlers; from knockout losses to Palito and Dolphy’s death; from all the rants-against-the-stupidities-of-our-society to his cute puppy dogs.

When “Indie” Is “In.”

9/21/2013 8:53:26 PM

Throwback: Original Prankster

9/18/2013 9:06:37 PM

Here’s something we got for a throwback.

Hey, it’s only this year when I listened to this track for the first time, huh? I’ve been a fan of that 90s punk rock band called The Offspring, especially during those “top-of-the-wee-hours” when Pretty Fly was the first song playing on my radio.

Alaala Ng The Brewrats

8/10/2013 12:15:44 PM

Patok o Bulok?: Genelyn Sandanga’s Covers

8/4/2013 1:48:17 PM

All for fame’s sake, ika nga.
