PlayBack: The Bloomfields – A Drop into the Blue (album)

03/15/2021 09:40:01 AM

It was the most significant milestone for The Bloomfields to end the decade. Eight years since releasing Hit The Ground Running, this old-school soundin' quartet launched its latest album. Unleashing their "originals" side apart from headlining solo shows usually run on a series of good ol' rock n' roll covers.

PlayBack: BRISOM, Joey Santos – Joan

08/16/2020 02:09:06 PM

It's 2020 and yet we can't still stop dancing around sad song, eh? Even if we're now at the times of being locked down.

PlayBack: Orange & Lemons - Pag-Ibig Sa Tabing-Dagat

06/21/2019 02:44:47 PM

It was in September 2017 when Orange & Lemons shocked the country by returning to the Philippine music scene in such improbable fashion. It was a resurgence that came out of nowhere – or right after re-tuning their tunes from the pop band's debut album Love In The Land Of Dirty Shoes and Ice Cream

PlayBack: UNIQUE – Sino

04/15/2019 03:40:04 PM

As young as he is, at least his sudden move to fly solo, though tumultuous, paid dividends really well. Once known as the frontman of IV of Spades, the young Unique Salonga shocked the country when he left the pop band and decide to fly aboard solo, which resulted into releasing his debut album Grandma under the newly-born O/C Records, and have one of its tracks as a hitmaker – even before releasing it as a single.

PlayBack: Sheila and the Insects – Love or Limbo (album)

04/15/2019 05:26:42 PM

I'm probably one of the latecomers in the room here. Well, I already heard the name Sheila and the Insects during my college years when I randomly watched music videos at MTV. Despite that, I rarely listened to their music back then.

PlayBack: Autotelic – Takipsilim (EP)

01/08/2019 04:58:55 PM

Two years since releasing its debut album under MCA Music, pop rock band Autotelic released its second record, a five-track EP titled Takipsilim.

PlayBack: BennyBunnyBand – ForHidden Song No. 1.

01/07/2019 03:23:06 PM

I first heard this song on a live nearly three years ago. It certainly wooed everyone inside the famous B-Side just before it hit the first chorus. Imagine that BennyBunnyBand was the first spark of the night as we were then waiting for MilesExperience during the launching of its debut album Again & Against.

And at the end of their set,  it dawned to a lot that ForHidden Song No. 1: Say Lang Titi... is, no question, a hit waiting to be fully unfolded on the Internet and hopefully, on the radio (Yup, they can get away with it).

PlayBack: UNIQUE – The Grandma Tour Live

01/07/2019 02:07:12 PM

The year 2018 saw one young man emerged from the shadows of his old band and transformed himself into a heck of a new person. It was a series of shocking events leading to his evolution as a musician, I must say.

After breaking away from IV of Spades, Unique Salonga exposed his talents elsewhere under Kean Cipriano and OC Records; making him the top-tier of the singer-songwriters at his age. Truly, that made him living to his namesake. Hype then followed the shadows of this wonder kid, leading to his own solo album and his solo concert that raised eyebrows of many, including yours truly.

PlayBack: Truefaith - Sentimental (album)

07/19/2018 03:48:56 PM

It was a product that fans are waiting for too long. Finally, after nearly a decade, pop-rock band TrueFaith has released its new album containing newly-minted original songs and at the same time, potential hits.

PlayBack: Veronica and I (self-titled EP)

05/22/2018 02:19:11 PM

It was probably a worthwhile wait for the real-couple Veronica Macato and Mike Ducusin, together with the band they formed called Veronica and I, to produce another product out of their love for music – and we mean a record; a five-track self-titled EP which was launched in October of 2017.

PlayBack: Bita and The Botflies – Tagu-Taguan

06/05/2018 05:12:40 AM

There's a reason why this blues quintet had made it big time–well, as early as 2016. This song is has the answer to the 'whys.'

PlayBack: Carousel Casualties – Flats (music video)

06/05/2018 04:18:50 AM

Nearly two years after reestablishment, the first step that Carousel Casualties made is releasing their very first song titled FLATS. Together with five other songs, Flats became the band's first living testament of changing sounds through their first-released EP titled Madison – a derivative from the song itself.

PlayBack: The Itchyworms – Sisikat Muli Ang Araw (music video)

05/22/2018 09:04:45 PM

The Itchyworms is one of those few commercially-and-artistically successful bands from the OPM band explosion wave during the mid-2000s. And now that we are approaching late-2010s and the young acts are getting more mainstream recognition, it's safe to say that IW is still standing there and has their sound evolved over the long course of time.

16 June 2018

PlayBack: The Bloomfields – Panaginip (live performance video)

05/23/2018 01:16:20 AM

This year, the old school-sounding rock and roll band The Bloomfields have set their sight on putting up their originals once again. And before they unleashed new songs in recording form like Ilaw, the quartet has been taking their solely-done works with them during their saGuijo gigs, such as In The City, Express Highway, and this song.

06 June 2018

PlayBack: Brisom – Siglon (music video)

05/31/2018 02:01:17 AM

Barely half-a-year since launching its first single off their upcoming album, Brisom has unveiled a new single earlier this year to back Balewala's success. And three months later, they unveiled its music video.

31 May 2018

PlayBack: Apoc – Piyesa Ng Makina

05/16/2018 12:12:54 PM

Apoc's second single off the album Loob Ng Kabaong is one of the songs that can make many people relate to it. Piyesa Ng Makina is such a heavy gritty work despite the bit lesser frequency of expletives.

PlayBack: Sunday Radio – 90s Kid (music video)

02/16/2018 12:24:02 PM

The funny thing is Sunday Radio may sound like a radio programming for the noble kind, but there is actually an alternative rock band named as one, and one of their songs tackles nostalgia for the present-day milennials. Hey, everyone knows that 90s is one of the popular decade in today's pop culture, right?

21 February 2018

PlayBack: IV of SPADES – Mundo

02/16/2018 10:09:23 AM

Every fan of this nostalgia-laced quartet knows they can make hugot-driven songs, too. And the hype for IV of Spades to release one of their popular songs Mundo has been that high since last year (heck, even toppling the groovy “Hey Barbara” and “Where Have You Been, My Disco?”). At least, they can make Filipino songs aside from “Ilaw sa Daan,” and thatr automatically merits a sure-ball for garnering a massive fanbase today.

But the question: did they lived to the skyrocketing expectations of many? It was probably a lukewarm response, to say the least.

20 February 2018

PlayBack: BRISOM – Balewala (music video)

02/06/2018 10:20:17 PM

Going beyong their first record, BRISOM traced even further with their new wave pop -like sound to heights with a #hugot-driven slow pop ballad Balewala, which is penned by the bandmate Jason Rondero (and for all we know, this guy is also part of the iconic Silent Sanctuary).
