Those Sleepless Nights in Katipunan (My Lookback to Some of The Gigs at Route 196)

12/24/2021 09:38:14 PM

Sometimes, I used to have this silly, randomly-timed routine of updating my tags and descriptions on my Instagram posts. Because I tried marketing my profile there and hopefully landing photography gigs or anything related. One Saturday in August 2020, I happened to do some of that on one of my photographs featuring no less than Jugs Jugueta of The Itchyworms on that gig at Route 196 in early 2019.

Everyone knows I live near Katipunan, so that said – and as a music lover – Route 196 was one of the places that immediately rang a bell to me. Unfortunately, the pandemic made them close shop, igniting the untimely demise of live music in the area for a few years.

The Dexcon Experience

06/15/2023 08:59:43 AM

Sometimes, I wonder whether I should be writing something about this event that happened nearly a couple of months ago, or not.

But for all we know, we have missed wrestling viewing parties – and I mean the real thing when people gather up and watch the shows together even if it's just at a sports bar, or any other regular venue. Hell, nothing beats the feeling of hanging around with friends and random people who share the same interest as yours that is pro wrestling.

The year 2022 has seen a massive resurgence from the Philippine wrestling scene. From late 2021's online-only show, a tournament which saw a collaboration among the country's three wrestling promotions, and the full-blown rebirth of live events which involves World Underground Wrestling, a startup Filipino Pro Wrestling, and the now long-standing Manila Wrestling Federation, which just had its first physical and king-sized year-ending show since 2018 (or at least, before the Aksyonovela TV tapings took over in place of MWF's big shows in late 2019).

Alaala ng Route 196

08/24/2020 02:17:03 AM
