The Best and Worst WrestleMania Moments in the Last 10 Years (Part 2 of 2)

I have been following professional wrestling (although not in a very religious way) since 2012. I have seen WrestleMania during Holy Tuesday of the said year; and it has been a yearly thing for me to watch the show, be it live, primetime replay, or on-demand. That said, it's fair to say I have watched WrestleMania for 12 consecutive years – and probably going on 13 by April 6-7 (or April 7-8 by the Philippine Standard Time).

2023, The Year of The Bloodline?

01/17/2024 03:00:00 PM

Okay. It's been close to three weeks as I write this series of essays, but I can only wonder: why only now? I guess it's because I now have the time needed since the past month and these past couple of weeks had been too busy for me to collate and compile all those thoughts that ran into my head for 2023.

It is safe to say that after three years, the world is really back to its normalcy. In TV lingo, we call it “back to regular programming.” For what its worth, 2023 didn't just had a roller coaster ride – there's also a see-saw and a swing. It was a carousel-like experience. I'm just glad I still manage to get back into writing because after all, who still reads blogs today – at the era when reels and vlogs became the name of the game in content creation?

Well, never say never, as resilient people would tell; so that being said, here is just one of the pieces that contain my sentiments on whatever issue or event I have experienced during 2023.

The Rundown Slam: WWE Royal Rumble 2023

You know, I shouldn't be writing stuff about this monumental wrestling event. Hey, we're almost three weeks removed from the Royal Rumble, so why do we need to milk more on this annual January WWE show which shows the opening salvo on the WrestleMania season?

The Rundown Slam: WWE SummerSlam 2021

It's now a love triangle-like affair between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, with Paul Heyman as the subject of the line. (Photo from WWE.com; obtained via Forbes)

WWE's biggest event of the summer just got bigger as they staged SummerSlam at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Some remarked SummerSlam has become even more significant than this year's WrestleMania (yes, despite the latter being a two-day event).

The first of two pitstops to this year's WrestleMania had taken place last month—and of course, it's always a diabolical one.

The Pre-Take: WWE WrestleMania 35 (Part 3)

04/06/2019 03:32:22 PM

Sixteen matches for WrestleMania 35. Yes. 16. FREAKIN'. MATCHES. Yes, as if 14 weren't enough for a 7-hour wrestling sports entertainment show, right?

And they are back in a similar location – the one they held in 2013. It's strange because its development counterpart was named NXT TakeOver New York and not Brooklyn V. Same fate as Orlando and New Orleans on the recent years.

Is it worthy to put my predictions here? Probably yes and probably no. But anyway, since I have been writing this shit as of now, let's do this pre-take.

Almost Breaking the Fourth Wall

09/03/2017 04:35:46 PM

The past two weeks ago saw these two fought fire with fire, garnering a lot of buzz during the airing of Monday Night RAW.

And frankly they are still doing it on a lesser time exposure and a quality that dwindled a bit.

We may have been hours away from witnessing the second's biggest WWE pay-per-view event, the one they called “the biggest party of the summer,” and coinciding with an all-heavy music fetsival in the Philippines.

The 31st edition of SummerSlam is poised to take off on Sunday evening at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York (Monday morning Philippine time), their third-straight tiume in staging the event at the said venue.  And for over the decade, SummerSlam were only situated in two venues: Barclays Center and Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

How Do You Fix Roman Reigns?

How do you fix Roman Reigns? How to fix the Big Dog?

Honestly, I don't know. And probably, we will all end up with nothing regardless of reading the entirety of this post or not. After all: it was the guy from the top who decides what's best for business his wet dreams, and certainly not us.

Wait a second: is the movement really forced, or are we just that unappreciative of the product? But anyway...

This guy, despite working very solid on his matches with other wrestlers in the WWE, has been a 'lackluster' in the eyes of the general wrestling fan community. And frankly, the way he has been booked since the implosion of his old faction (The SHIELD) showed how Vince's preference of a 'heir apparent' at present.

Thank You, Braun!

04/16/2017 11:12:38 AM

As much as I wanna star away from giving too many opinions for what's happening at the pro wrestling world, this video suddenly made me do otherwise.

Just when a lot of us thought that Roman Reigns will be a hell of a villain in the current landscape, we have seen this.

The Rundown Slam: WrestleMania 33 (Part 4)

04/09/2017 10:38:52 PM

Just when we thought about of the WWE Championship as the main event of WrestleMania, we ended up on the wrong path again. They piloted the second half of this five-hour extravaganza with a supposedly-compelling storyline.

The Pre-Take: WWE WrestleMania 33

04/02/17 11:03:57 PM

John Cena and Nikki Bella versus The Miz and Maryse might be one of the best things that will take olace at WrestleMania. At least that saved me from having some pre-event's disdains as a wrestling fan.

While things were quite obvious to be pointing in that direction even during his days of being the 16th time World Champion, it seems that Cena and his real-life girlfriend were planned to engage in an altercation with Mike Mizanin and his wife. Both sports-entertainers (we mean wrestlers) and entertainers at their very own respective rights.

The Rundown Slam: WWE Roadblock End Of The Line

12/30/2016 02:53:10 PM

The World Wrestling Entertainment got their specials boosted up as they end the year with a RAW-exclusive pay per view (PPV) gig called Roadblock: End Of The Line. And frankly, it wasn't a bad show to culminate WWE's run this 2016.

The Rundown Slam: WWE Hell In A Cell 2016

11/08/2016 04:59:44 PM

We got triple main event matches that make this RAW-exclusive PPV as historically big as it gets. And why not? They were staging the 2016 edition of WWE's Hell In A Cell at the epic TD Garden in Boston, the place where the dominating Boston Celtics lives on.

But is it really epic or just plain dragging, considering the entire program lasted for five freaking hours; almost equalizing SummerSlam for that matter. They had an hour for the pre-show, 3 hours and 16 minutes for the main program and around 43 minutes for the fallout-like RAW Talk. While the programming has been making drastic changes (thanks to the WWE Network), five hours of wrestling in a Sunday can be really dragging, unless it's WrestleMania time.

Anyway, let's just slam the rundown, shall we?

The Rundown Slam: WWE Clash of Champions

10/07/2016 12:52:09 AM

WWE Monday Night RAW unleashed their first brand-only PPV of the new era, and despite the complications of the SmackDown having their own championships, the evening was still called Clash of Champions where all of the five RAW Championship will be contested.

The Pre-take: WWE Clash Of Champions

09/23/2016 05:42:02 PM

This is the time where the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has put every belt on the line. And with the outcome of the brand extension, the Night of Champions was now renamed and became an exclusive pay-per-view property of the WWE's flagship program Monday Night RAW.

Dubbed as Clash of Champions, every RAW Championship will put at stake. Plus, more of the action from various storylines will also add spice for the evening come Sunday at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The Rundown Slam: WWE SummerSlam 2016 (Part 4)

08/29/2016 05:04:17 PM

It's funny that the 6-tag team match for the women's division of SmackDown took place after the WWE World Championship match. It served like another bathroom break for those observers. While on the other hand, that's actually shows that the women were given a chance. Hence, placing them at the top of the SmackDown cards for SummerSlam made it appear like another result of those #GiveDivasAChance tweets. (Well, sorry, make it #GiveSmackDownWomenAChance.)

Looks like the World Wrestling Entertainment has been really serious in building SummerSlam as its second biggest show of the year, eh? Look at this: 13 matches in all, with ten of them happening at the four-hour main broadcast. Three main event matches: one that has been hyped despite controversies, and two title matches representing RAW and SmackDown brands.

Hey, it's even bigger than WrestleMania 32. And expect the live venue crowd's not large in numbers since it will be slated at the Barclays Center though we hope they will roll on a different stage design unlike the so-totally-generic ones they had for the past two years.
