Goodnight!: RKO From Mid-Air

You can never deny what happened on this day in this year: It is the day where the professional wrestling’s biggest stage took over the world. And it’s called “WrestleMania.”

The Rocking Return

10/08/2014 09:48:54 AM

I haven't seen WWE RAW for almost two weeks (the last time I watched this show was during the replay by FOX on the evening of my birthday—something I kept secret after all. Haha.) and perhaps the most possible time to do so will be this coming Friday evening.

But heck, I can't myself wait for Friday to come, especially last morning (Manila time) when suddenly, a huge surprise came along: Dwayne Johnson, also known as “The Rock” just literally rocked Brooklyn on his appearance on Monday Night RAW.

Just in time after Rusev taunted The Big Show on his absence, his music popped from the speakers, his video played on Titantron. You know what this means, especially if the words “If you smell what the rock is cooking,” suddenly banged out of your consciousness, and there goes the former Florida college football player-slash-pro wrestler-slash-action star, donning that black Brooklyn jacket as he entered the ring.

Lookback: WrestleMania 29's Triple Main Event

3/15/2014 3:31:50 PM

It’s only few weeks before the wrestling’s biggest stage will take centerstage at the huge venue the Big Easy peeps known as the Superdome.

And much as I am expressing my dismay on my local TV channel for not airing the WWE’s flagship program RAW, the only thing I can do at the moment is to do a flashback review: and I am talking about the three huge main cards of the WWE WrestleMania 29 held at the Metlife Stadium in New Jersey last year.

I remember, I used to be on the multi-tasking mode then when my ultimate-fave-but-now-defunct Studio 23 aired its Philippine telecast during that one fateful Wednesday night of April. I was working in front of my computer, and at the same time – was watching the 240-minute event (you do the math, please?) on my Cherry Mobile phone (yes, I’m proud to say that. U mad?). At that time, I was a team leader in my graveyard shift (10 p.m. – 6 a.m.) which did not really had much problem with me.

And what more can I say? Aside from those 80,676 patrons from East Rutherford whom witnessed this event, which is considered as the second largest all-time Wrestlemania event in terms of attendance?

But only three things really stuck my mind. What are those?

Second Big Clash.

05:00 PM | 03/09/2013

I’m not a huge fan of wretsling nor I’ve seen all of the WWE’s clashes. But something caught my attention then. John Cena versus The Rock for the Wrestlemania 2013. And... yes, again, for the WWE Championship.

Could it all be revenge for the former or will the latter prevail for the 2nd time?

The John Cena versus The Rock was the match that I could hardly forget. That was one of the hell battles I’ve seen for 2012, perhaps because it was staged as the main event of the 23rd Wrestlemania showcase at Miami, Florida.

Touch challenge with scripts as set-up pun intended? But hey, I’d prefer watching this clash rather than the other who ended up resorting to the so-called “dirty tactics” to pull enough some kind of dramatic effect.
Well, after seeing WWE Superstars’ snippet of Monday Night Raw match of CM Punk against John Cena (in which the latter prevails), looks like it’s gonna be a homecourt advantage for Cena. While on the other hand, The Rock was on the verge of defending himself and the title he’d won last year at the South Florida Beach. Nah, all I know is that Cena also bagged the belt for this year’s Royal Rumble either, before that hell-of-an-almost-shit match at the last main event of that night.

Will it be a deja vu or an occurence of a 360 degree turn-around?

Hmm... well, let’s see this coming April in New York.
