It's been barely 367 days since we have seen this guy last played in an NBA game. And what a monumental game to finish – 60 points to put Kobe Bryant into one of the top scorers ever in the NBA.

Talk about ending a career with a bang, right? Especially in the last stretch of the game where everything, though dramatic, turned out be an entertaining kind of farewell.

Sa panahon na sinusulat ko ang blog post na ito, ay kasalukuyan kong pinapanood ang Retro TV, isang programa ng IBC-13 na umere muli nitong nakaraang Sabado ng gabi, (dakong alas-10 yun, to be exact).

Sa panasamantalang pagtangkilik sa programang yun, na ang nag-host pala by the way ay si Drew Arellano, isang episode ng TODAS at Sic O Clock News ang umere.

It’s been five years since I first wrote in this site of mine a piece of something related to the NBA All-Star event, and it’s been a year since the last time I have done so. But anyway, let me allow you to take a trip back to the memory lane; to the setting where I haven’t even got engaged into this kind of venture.

Before we hit the Big Easy again, here’s a piece of some throwback chunks during the All-Star Game itself in 2008. I used to remember a busy Monday for me in Mendiola but still managed to catch everything up on the internet (aside from an audio league pass and player cam feature from my NBA.com account then), and managed to replay this on both YouTube and TV coverage.

Pero maliban pa sa mga sitcom at gag shows, isama mo na rin ang pagpapalabs ng mga pelikula, ito ang mga palabas na sa tingin ng inyong lingkod, at dapat na umeere pa as panahon ngayon. Ang mga tinampok o sa artikulong ito ay ang mga palabas na umere sa nakalipas na mga taon (sensya na, di ko matantiya).

Sabihin na natin na medieval akong mag-isip. Pero nakakamiss talaga ang lumang Cubao, no?

Oo, sinasabi ko ‘to dahil malamang, maraming ipinagbago ang lugar na kinalakihan ko. Dati-rati ay nadadaanana at napupuntahan ko ‘to. Hindi na mabilang sa listahan o pahina ng encyclopedia kung ilang beses. Basta, halos bawat araw ay napapadpad ako sa Cubao, estudyante man, tambay, o nagtatrabahong nilalang.

Tama, ang “Magandang Gabi Bayan,” umeere kada Sabado ng hapon o (mag-gagabi pa nga eh. kung hindi ako nagkakamali, alas-5:30 o alas-6 ng gabi yan) sa ABS-CBN. Hindi lang siya signature line ni “Kabayan” Noli De Castro sa bawat intro at extro niya.

Pero maliban sa mga expose at malalimang pag-uulat, kilala ang Magandang Gabi Bayan sa isang bagay na kahindik-hindik sa kamalayan – ang pag-expose sa mga kababalaghan sa ating bansa. Ops, hindi ko tinutukoy ang alinamng uri ng katiwalian dito ha?

Bagamat hindi ako isang Brewster, isa sa mga programang talagang pinapakinggan ko nun ay ang The Brewrats. Unang sumalang sa himpapawid noong August 2007 sa 99.5 Hit FM (na naging Hit FM, Campus Radio at RT ulit), napadpad rin sa U92 (na naging Radyo 5 92.3 News FM na ngayon). Naging tanyag pa rin naman sila sa mga brewsters sa pamamagitan ng pag-broadcast sa internet.

Nagsilibing tributo ang kantang Betamax ng bandang Sandwich sa iba’t ibang artista sa iba’t ibang genre ng early contemporary music sa Pilipinas. Kung mapapakinggan mo ‘to ng ilang beses o mababasa mo ang lyrics nito na nakakalat lang sa internet (siyempre, i-google mo na lang yan, ‘tol), nabanggit dito ang mga pamagat ng kanta at mga pangalan na tila alamat na sa industriya ng OPM sa nakalipas na apat na dekada, kasama ang Woodstock, OPM rock, rap, disco pop, romantic ballad, mainstream pop at iba pa.

No More "The Best Music on the Planet?" The Quest On The Next Brand Under The 99.5 FM dial.

I know, I know. I am not even at the middle level of being an avid listener of this station. I don’t even know what made me wrote this piece. But being a radio gaga kid for almost half of my life, it saddens to hear goodbye on the station that you patronized even at least once upon a time. And all I know is that 99.5 RT was one of the stations I have turned into when I lived once at province (Yes, I heard them clearly even if I’m 70 kilometers away up North-Northeast from Luneta)

I never saw it coming until a disc jockey named Inka posted something on her Facebook account, encouraging everyone in her network to listen on her show the RT 30 countdown for one last time this coming Friday, October 19, 2012— Something that drew the ire on side of her listeners that the station 99.5 RT will be leaving once again. And also, drawing questioned thoughts for the ones who patronize the station like “Where will they turn into next?” And “Where can we find the best music on the planet then,” aside from the bounds of YouTube, Soundcloud, internet radio sites and… anywhere else at the World Wide Web?

Many of us think of this one very usual resort question: Another cliché FM station going masa type? Something that is really… (I repeat) really disappointing for the side of the music lovers, radio listeners, and DJ’s fans. Something that Inka denied via her Facebook comment.

Throwback Weekend Programming

I wish I could include RX 93.1's Monstrous Riot here, but its schedule falls on the mid-week. Anyway, to start things out, if you are an FM radio lover, regardless of what station you are patronizing, you will notice this: for seven days that it airs, there will be like a day or two for playing classic songs.
