Talk about a holiday flashback. We go back to four years ago. It was the first of December 2012 at the branch of National Book Store in Shangri-la Mall in Mandaluyong City as Stanley Chi launched his book that set himself apart from being the Suplado guy we know.

Inside The Pages: The Best In The World At What I Have No Idea
For over two-and-a-half decades, it is safe
to say that Chris Jericho has become a worldwide entertainment
phenomenon. And he has done it in the world of performing arts,
sports, music, and even acting. A metal-head and a sports entertainer
– should we rather say, wrestler – this on-screen villain has
done the documentation in two books; which gives him another
distinction more than just a thousand plus holds – being an author.

Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago is back with more thoughts on her mind. And I mean literally because it seemed her first book in recent years Stupid is Forever wasn’t quite enough in her fanbase.

Book-to-movie adaptations is undeniable part of the pop culture right now. An entire book translated into a single screenplay (or a series of screenplays) that was perhaps not just a culture norm of entertainment, but a marketing tool to a merchandise is so evident that people usually generates array of feedbacks regarding to it.

The Scene Around: One Night Stan

It's been almost two years since I once dropped by at a book signing event of this guy known as Stanley Chi. His series of Suplado Tips and Pogi Points somehow tipped me enough on how to be drastically snob when needed, and to be gentle to the ladies at important times.

Just when you thought Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago was more than just a woman legislator with a bunch of quotable quotes that are worthy of every television and radio airtime, hey… guess what? ABS-CBN Publishing compiled a book full of her epigrams and even privilege speeches outside the House.

Tirada Ni SlickMaster: 50 Banned Shades?
8/10/2014 11:29:50 PM
Teka, malaking
kalokohan yata ‘to ah.
Nagsulat ng liham ang
Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines sa Movie and Television Review
and Classification Board (MTRCB) na
naglalayong i-ban ang naturang pelikula sa bansa. Nakatakdang ipalabas ang 50
Shades of Grey sa darating na Valentines Day sa 2015.
Ganun ba? Oo, ganun
nga.

Flick Review: Bob Ong's ABNKKBSNPLAko?! the Movie

I can only express my insights on the movie adaptation of
that Bob Ong book in two words: as both 'entertaining' and 'disappointment.'

Inside the Pages: Always Chink Positive

Alright,
just as always what I've always telling you, I am may be a Catholic but I’m more
of a spiritual guy. Yes, despite everything that I am more expressing about (of
course, you will really have that kind of impression on me unless you meet in
person).
However,
enough of corny and heavy satirical jokes, exposes-about-society-and-mainstream’s-bullshits,
and for now... let’s shy away from my favorite culture and literary choices. Let’s
turn into the side of inspirational. Well, for now.

The Scene Around: This Is A Crazy Planets 2 Book-Signing Event
10/20/2013
1:33:20 PM
He’s back.
He’s furious. And it may be a Saturday, but it was the day when the Lourd said for
the second time around, “Let there be a second book!” And presto, Summit Books
just produced another hell-of-a-book that consists of compilation of selected
essays from that SPOT.ph blog “This Is A Crazy Planets.”
Yes, “The
Best of This Is A Crazy Planets Book 2” was already in the circulation of the
bookstores. And as per National Book Store’s list of bestsellers for Philippine
Publication last month (September 2013), Lourd’s latest book was placed on the
8th spot.
So the stage
was set on that National Book Store branch inside SM North EDSA, and that
Saturday afternoon turned out to be a satirical one, as the man himself went up
to his stage and desk, spoke a little about his latest read, and joked
about the latest news on Freddie Aguilar.

Book Review: The Best of This Is A Crazy Planets Book 2
9/30/2013 3:32:53 PM
So… the planets have gone crazy again, eh?
One hell-sick-noisemaker in the name of Lourd de Veyra has a
lot more to tell, and it’s all in his second book – the book 2 of This Is A
Crazy Planets (With no pun intended, but the last word was spelled right even
if you argue on the grammatical structure of the entire title).
This Is A Crazy Planets is the Radioactive Sago Project
frontman-slash-TV5 personality‘s blog section at the lifestyle website SPOT.ph; and
selected articles from the said blog site (dated from 2011-2013) were the main
content of his second book: From foodie to selfie; from offending religious
feelings, to the “baby” informal settlers; from knockout losses to Palito and
Dolphy’s death; from all the rants-against-the-stupidities-of-our-society to
his cute puppy dogs.

How SUPLADO TIPS Changed My Life
07:37 PM | 02/11/2013
In fact, naisip ko nun
muna bago manghusga no!)

How POGI POINTS Changed My Life
12/25/2012 07:00 PM
(Alternate title: "Book Review: Stanley Chi's POGI POINTS the not-so-gentleman’s guide to looking good")
DISCLAIMER: This blog
is not directly promoting the book of Stanley
Chi which is entitled POGI POINTS the not-so-gentleman’s guide to looking good. The write-up actually is just a way of
expressing the author’s great (as in super great) impact infused and influenced
by the said book, just as similar to those “testimonial” remarks on
advertisements and commercials.

Inside The Pages: Ramon Bautista’s "Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo?"
11/27/2012 10:08 AM
balat14.blogspot.com |
Well, matanong talaga ang librong ito. As in maraming tanong
From The Friend Zone.”

The This-Is-a-Crazy-Planets Experience.
Yes, the title is right even if you argue that there’s something wrong with its last word. There’s a story behind that so make sure you at least reads that (or much better get a copy) before you make any prejudgments per se.
I was once curious on what the hell this book is all about when I first saw the post related to this book on a Facebook page.
Until one fateful day on January 2012, as I passed by at the National Book Store’s Superstore branch in Cubao Quezon City, Lourd’s book is something I noticed the most at one of its stands. Without thinking twice, I bought the copy.
I came home and ended up reading the entire piece in almost the entire day then.
“This is a Crazy Planets” is apparently a book of selected blog posts of the Radioactive Sago Project frontman-slash-TV personality Lourd Ernest H. de Veyra, all of his compiled write-ups can be seen at the website spot.ph dated 2009 to 2011.
As I read the book, few things come into my mind: it’s like… uhm, unexpectedly my imagination runs as if I’m visualizing that every single word that my mind utters, the Lourd speaks as if he’s on another Word Of The Lourd episode airing on either TV5 or YouTube.
