Newsletter: Kaspersky: Local threats continue to haunt businesses in SEA

2023 witnessed nearly 43 million local threats targeting organisations in Southeast Asia. This is according to the latest data from global cybersecurity company, Kaspersky.
Business solutions from Kaspersky blocked a total of 42,700,000 local infections during the period of January to December last year.

Ten years ago, I tried coming up with a list of my favorite songs of the decade here in this blog. Unfortunately, I ended up shelving it as I got more busy with college studies and post-disaster recovery.

Teka nga, teka nga… *handclap* Pusong bato ba o sadyang nakakabato lang ang kantang ito?

At teka ulit, bakit nga ba ulit nauso ang kantang ito? Ang daming matitinong musika sa lokal na kultura natin? Pero… pusong bato?

Ano ‘to? Maraming nagiging emotero sa panahon ngayon? Yan kasi dala ng panunood n’yo ng mga telenobela.

Manhid lang ba, o sadyang nakakabadtrip na lang nag paglipana ng ganyang kanta? Ay, ewan.

WHERE’S THE MESSAGE?


Lumaki ako na ang musikang madalas pakinggan ay ang mga may makabuluhan na nauuso pa kahit papaano noon. Iyan ay sa kabila ng mga naglalabasang mga mahahangin sa mainstream. Ngayon, napapatanong na lang ako. Nassan na kaya ang mga ganitong musika? Ito dapat ang mas pinapakinggang ng karamihan kesa sa mga halatang pasikat kahit hindi pa ganun kahasa e. Sensible music, ika nga. Ang art noon, hindi lang may commercial value, may moral value din. Kaya astig talaga kung maituturing. Iyun nga lang, mas madalas ito makita sa mga larangan na hindi na saklaw ng mga nauuso.

Pero alam ko na mayroon pa naman sa pop culture na may ganitong tema e. Yung mga may dating alaga. Hindi dahil sa mababaw na aspeto tulad ng astig na rhythm o beat, o ‘di naman kaya’y yung mga madaling kabisaduhin yung mga salita ng lyrics. Kundi dahil sa mga may mga magagandang kwento sa likod nito. Yung tipong may mapupulot ako na may kaututran at matututunan, kahit sa kabila ng mga katarantaduhang mga binibigkas ng mang-aawit. Yung talagang masasabi na may replay value.

Alam ko, meron pang mga ganitong klaseng bagay sa panahon ngayon. Though ang isa sa mga pinakapatok noon ay ang kanta ng Black Eyed Peas na “Where is the Love?” Akala ko nga nung una e, panay romantisismo na naman ito e (love e). Pero ‘tol, ‘wag ka.
