The Pick: History

11/15/2013 4:23:27 PM

Tayuan Mo at Panindigan (The Tribute)

10/27/2013 6:05:43 PM

Kailangan: Tayuan Mo at Panindigan.”

Pero I can't help it eh.

The Scene Around: This Is A Crazy Planets 2 Book-Signing Event

10/20/2013 1:33:20 PM

He’s back. He’s furious. And it may be a Saturday, but it was the day when the Lourd said for the second time around, “Let there be a second book!” And presto, Summit Books just produced another hell-of-a-book that consists of compilation of selected essays from that SPOT.ph blog “This Is A Crazy Planets.”

Yes, “The Best of This Is A Crazy Planets Book 2” was already in the circulation of the bookstores. And as per National Book Store’s list of bestsellers for Philippine Publication last month (September 2013), Lourd’s latest book was placed on the 8th spot.

So the stage was set on that National Book Store branch inside SM North EDSA, and that Saturday afternoon turned out to be a satirical one, as the man himself went up to his stage and desk, spoke a little about his latest read, and joked about the latest news on Freddie Aguilar.

Book Review: The Best of This Is A Crazy Planets Book 2

9/30/2013 3:32:53 PM

So… the planets have gone crazy again, eh?

One hell-sick-noisemaker in the name of Lourd de Veyra has a lot more to tell, and it’s all in his second book – the book 2 of This Is A Crazy Planets (With no pun intended, but the last word was spelled right even if you argue on the grammatical structure of the entire title).

This Is A Crazy Planets is the Radioactive Sago Project frontman-slash-TV5 personality‘s blog section at the lifestyle website SPOT.ph; and selected articles from the said blog site (dated from 2011-2013) were the main content of his second book: From foodie to selfie; from offending religious feelings, to the “baby” informal settlers; from knockout losses to Palito and Dolphy’s death; from all the rants-against-the-stupidities-of-our-society to his cute puppy dogs.

The This-Is-a-Crazy-Planets Experience.

Yes, the title is right even if you argue that there’s something wrong with its last word. There’s a story behind that so make sure you at least reads that (or much better get a copy) before you make any prejudgments per se.

I was once curious on what the hell this book is all about when I first saw the post related to this book on a Facebook page.

Until one fateful day on January 2012, as I passed by at the National Book Store’s Superstore branch in Cubao Quezon City, Lourd’s book is something I noticed the most at one of its stands. Without thinking twice, I bought the copy.

I came home and ended up reading the entire piece in almost the entire day then.

“This is a Crazy Planets” is apparently a book of selected blog posts of the Radioactive Sago Project frontman-slash-TV personality Lourd Ernest H. de Veyra, all of his compiled write-ups can be seen at the website spot.ph dated 2009 to 2011.

As I read the book, few things come into my mind: it’s like… uhm, unexpectedly my imagination runs as if I’m visualizing that every single word that my mind utters, the Lourd speaks as if he’s on another Word Of The Lourd episode airing on either TV5 or YouTube.

PlayBack: Tayuan Mo! At Panindigan

05/16/2011 | 04:44 p.m.

When you were a kid during the previous three decades, you may have noticed that in some TV channels, talk shows are their specialty. The content simply comprised of commentary, information, and spiels. Just pure talk.

Perhaps, at present era where soap operas eventually became the icons of primetime television, there are few programs that still stand for the type of the old style. And one of them turned out to be my favorite in Tayuan Mo! At Panindigan.
