Those Sleepless Nights in Katipunan (My Lookback to Some of The Gigs at Route 196)

12/24/2021 09:38:14 PM

Sometimes, I used to have this silly, randomly-timed routine of updating my tags and descriptions on my Instagram posts. Because I tried marketing my profile there and hopefully landing photography gigs or anything related. One Saturday in August 2020, I happened to do some of that on one of my photographs featuring no less than Jugs Jugueta of The Itchyworms on that gig at Route 196 in early 2019.

Marikina City, the Beasts of Live Music in the East

06/26/2023 12:10:02 PM

Since the resumption of the world back into normalcy, the events industry has experienced a sort of resurgence – or a rebirth, if some may say. Although, unfortunately, some of our favorite places have closed shop for us live music lovers, 2022 (or even as early as late 2021) saw an opening for some venues around the Metro.

Before the sudden shutdown, Novaliches slowly made their way for all the music and merry making the Northern people badly craved. Pasig and even Taytay in Rizal province also joined the budding trend of staging music halls. And no, this isn't biased because I was a Marikina resident since birth.

The year 2022, though, saw the emergence of Marikina City in setting up its network of places that would cater to those who clamor for live music.

Everyone knows I live near Katipunan, so that said – and as a music lover – Route 196 was one of the places that immediately rang a bell to me. Unfortunately, the pandemic made them close shop, igniting the untimely demise of live music in the area for a few years.

Free Concert Problems

Upcoming: It's Time! The Paranoid City Farewell Gig!

12/27/2018 01:47:52 AM

After a long run that spanned for almost a full decade, Paranoid City is taking its final curtain this Saturday... or wait, is it really the finale of them all?

You're not a gig goer in Metro Manila today if you haven't even heard of the word saGuijo. Or rather, if you have not paid them a visit yet.

Mga Dahilan Kung Bakit Kailangan Mong Pumunta sa Gig Nang Mag-isa

11/01/2017 11:59:45 AM

The Scene Around: saGuijo Presents

09/03/17 11:21:47 AM

It's strange to notice we have two consecutive 'long weekends' staged at the month of August. Well, yes, but it's undeniable that it rolls in our favor because rest... ya know.

While I am supposed to hit down South last August 26, I was offered to partake on a role that I can never (ever!) refuse. Because... why should I?! Is this even a damn valid question?.

Alaala Ng Isang Tambayan

09/15/2012 06:35 PM

Madalas nagmumuni ako mag-isa o may kasmaang barkada.
